Early warning...Prius 09'

why does it have shit all over it?

Because like a pissed off monkey, I've been flinging poo at every Prius I see!!!

Actually, it's to keep anyone from getting a clean photo of the car before its OFFICIAL release.

no matter how much they change or camoflage it... I am sure eveyr biker will be able to spot them in an instant :p

What still gets me is the waste of all the natural resources that goes into making a Prius (not to mention the owners' self-righteousness), yet it only gets 40-50 mpg (per that article).

Bring back the Honda CRX!! Even a 1983 Datsun pickup truck got 43mpg on the freway. Let's get the petroleum interests off of the assembly line...

will someone catch me up to speed on why motorcyclists should be particularly afraid of prius drivers? I think i have a pretty good idea that these smug wank-a-do's who pilot these stupid poor excsuses for a toyota vehicle are or in the mind state that they own the road and have "more" rights to it becuase the shit tank they drive is better for the enviroment. :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown

anyway im guessing its these types of drivers who rub us out of lane splits and other moto right aways.

Quai, the Prius meets all current safety and emissions standards. The CRX most definitely doesn't.

What are you talking about ?!?! In its time the CRX was hugely economical, fuelwise and pricewise. Those lil buggers got/still get 40+mpg and for being as small as they are, are quite safe.

I think Honda did a huge disservice to car people when they stopped making em. :x

"In its time" is the key point, in its time, design standards were more lax. Cars like the CRX ceased to be produced because they couldn't meet new safety/emissions standards.

You can still get them, you just have to buy it in China.

Steve

Yeah but I've also seen plenty of crashed CRX's and I'd honestly rather be in Prius in an accident than the tin can of death that the CRX is. :laughing :laughing

They wouldnt make them the same as they did. :rolleyes

If they brought them back I'm sure they would meet both safety and emission standards. I just dont understand Honda sometimes. They release shit trucks like the Pilot and the Ridgeline, yet wont re-release a cult favorite car in the CRX. :x

Tina, you're not getting it. The safety and emission features don't come for free. Reinforcing and adding bracing to the chassis, air bags, crush zones (would probably require the whole car to be larger) adds weight which in turn hurts in-town fuel efficiency (inertia) and rolling friction. Even if the engine was left untouched, it would still be less fuel efficient because it would have more heft to haul around.

They basically did with the Honda Fit. Essentially a modern day CRX

No, I get it plenty. Instead of making a newer, more improved and probably larger CRX they continue to make the gawd awful, same size as a CRX, Insight. They could discontinue that car and go back to the CRX, but somewhere in there, they find the need to make a car that is overpriced and not worthy. If they can make the Insight as small as it is and have it pass all the safety and emission tests they can make a CRX.

:thumbdown That is not even remotely close to a Rex.

there is an aftermarket upgrade, called EDrive, for the prius that makes it 100/mpg: http://www.edrivesystems.com/technology.html

quite a pricey upgrade though....$10-12k.

as for bringing back the CRX, it's very possible. this is the honda CRZ hybrid concept car: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/honda/-honda-crz-concept-ar50503.html

will these be the new threat to riders everywhere? what's worse...self-righteous tree-huggers or tree-hugging ricers?
