Easter Sunday Morning ride, 4/12/09

Plan on meeting you guys at 5:30. How long from the Arco is it to the summit? you guys leaving AT 5:30 or meeting then? Just don't wanna get lost...

Its a short ride up to the peak, maybe 30 mins if you take your time. Some leave the Arco at 5:30 sharp, others stagger a little bit. Some like to see it as a race up the mountain, other, like me, are more than content to hang back and take their time. If you don't know the way up the hill, there'll be someone to follow. This is less about the ride and much more about the experience - which is good when you're doing it on about 4 hours of sleep, which is what I'm about to commit to.

To answer a previous question, I'd say the attendance is somewhere between 150-250 folks turn up to this.

The easter morning ride has been a bay area institution for longer than I've been aware of it, but I've been a happy participant for the past three years. I'm just here to spread the word about it. Like any other time, you are responsible for your own safety and enjoyment.

i woke up this morning at 6:45 to the usual sounds of bikes on flying through the turns. i couldn't figure out why there were so many, and why they were an hour earlier. i didn't realize until now, that all of you guys were coming down. sorry i missed this!

I had doubts that getting up that early for anything would be worth it, but ...I'll be going again next year :ride

By the number of posts prior to today, I thought, "oh there will be a couple of people there but should be fun to meet more Barfers". I roll up to the the Arco and couldn't believe what I saw. :wtf The whole station/corner was spilling over with bikes of all kinds. Amazing.

Pulled up and parked. Got to talking to a guy (Kevin) who has been going to this for 10 years. Never knew this was an annual thing. Very cool.

The ride to the top was fun...realized I still have lot's to learn in the twisties. Bikes behind me were probably thinkin' "what a noob"...and damn scared to pass me! :ride

The weather and the view and the sunrise were awesome. Well worth getting up at 3am.

Thank's again Barfers for letting this newbie in on an old tradition. It was an experience. Oh and thanks Kevin, for the coffee and conversation.

What a great event. My first time, but I chatted with the owner of one of those bmws, and he had been going for 14 years.
 
Another fantastic Easter, and another great start to what will hopefully be a fantastic riding season. Congrats to all the new folks who came out for this. Sorry I didn't get to meet more of you, but I'm glad you had a great time.

Still working on cleaning up my photo - worked on it a bit this morning before napping a bit, and then spent the day with my newborn niece and her family. But I'll have a nice desktop for you guys soon.

What a blast that was! I will most definitely make this a tradition.
Rollin through SF among 100+ bikes at about 5am was interesting too.

My buddys and I ended up bombing all over Marin and beyond after breakfast. Kind of a trip to get home before 4pm and say you've spent 10+ hours in the saddle.

I was afraid I'd be groggy if I only got 3 or 4 hours of sleep the night before, so I just stayed up all night on Saturday and didn't go to bed 'till late Sunday night.

Beautiful pic btw.
