Easter sunrise??? 4/5/26

our clubhouse has been open beginning on Saturday night until Easter Morning the last few years ... not super comfortable for sleeping, perhaps, but the price is right, and the location is convenient ... :laughing

we're also trying to get permission for our SFMC Westphalia coffee-vehicle to camp overnight up on Mt Tam on the Saturday immediately before Easter Sunday (April 5, 2026). hoping that any camping permission forthcoming will include "helpers." we'll see how that goes, I guess. :clown
My new best friend Mike invited me to help next year ;)

I don't wanna speak out of turn, since I'm not in charge of the Easter Sunrise Ride stuff at the SFMC (that'd be our "Tours and Runs" Committee person, Mr Roberto, this year) ...

but I imagine I'd be able to seize the initiative in 2026, and simply call for a social party at the clubhouse on Saturday, April 4th, 2026, if the clubhouse isn't otherwise open by whoever does Tours and Runs next year.

In either circumstance, I doubt "sleeping" will be much on the agenda. :laughing

I guess the average age of the SFMC ebbs and flows ... in 1995 I was helping to drag it down, and these days I guess I'm dragging it back up. :laughing

There will be valet parking, right? And the lobby; is set up for rest and relaxation maybe do some work. Will there be a concierge?

yeah, we're all city kids in the SFMC--so we generally leave solving the eternal urban parking problem to the car drivers. :ride

we did manage to have a bunch of parking set off this past Sunday for motorcycle parking with our collection of outlaw construction cones. :facepalm :laughing

pretty sure we call our "concierge" the Road Captain. idk ... maybe our Sargent-at-Arms? I'll check, and report back ... 🥳

Easter sleepovers,

I have done the club sleep overs before, enduros,
all that moto trash talk, before your key time,
could come back to bite you, needing help, pushing out of that snotty spot, , ,
All that fun, , ,
Getting better.

I know I'm late to the party, but had a few pics to share from an amazing Easter Sunday!

All the pics and a bit of a story: https://dashedyellowline.com/2025/04/20/chasing-sunlight-on-easter-morning/

If any BARFers saw me with the camera on the way out -> I likely have a picture of you. Send me a PM and I will share the full gallery for you to find your pic. I'll even polish it up fer ya.

I’m told our friends at Munroe Motors have stepped up again this year and made arrangements to have the Mt Tam gate unlocked by the powers that bee … big thanks to them for helping keep the venerable tradition going in 2026! :angel

for we infidels, the movable feast of Easter this year is on Sunday, 04/05/2026. AI tells me “on Easter morning, sunrise on Mt Tamalpais is approximately 6:36 am.”

the Easter Sunrise Ride is my favorite ride of the year.

I have three chances to make it: at the SFMC at 4am, at Tam Junction at 5am or just rail up Mt Tam and try to have the bike parked at 5:30am so I have a half hour to staGger up to the watchtower by 6am. :clown

theoretically, my 1973 Triumph Tiger may make an appearance this year. we’ll see … I talk a lot. :blah

I’ll report this thread so we can maybe update the thread title to reflect current events. :ride

(for the pious among us the SFMC is doing a post-Tam breakfast and bike blessing, that may or may not feature a real priest, starting at 8am. or even for the not-pious, since I usually get my bike blessed, even when it’s a club prospective-member ina hunky Jesus costume, cuz why not? :toothless )

anyone from east bay - concord / walnut creek want to go together ?
I'm your huckleberry / huckle bearer... :teeth

I've done this last year and I liked going to the SFMC clubhouse at 3:45AM to meet folks, so if that works for you, let me know.

Early beats late, so ... I can be waiting on the far left lane of the Bay Bridge just before the toll plaza, just before the CalTrans lane, I don't anticipate much traffic. I'll have my 4-way flashers on (if I remember :teeth).
