I need an $.89 capacitor (330pf if you must know) and radio shack only carries it online. They want $6 to stick this thing in an envelope and mail it to me. This enrages my frugal ideals. Surely there must be a brick and mortar store somewhere, preferably in the East Bay, so that I may purchase my capacitor and enjoy high pass filtering on my guitar in harmonious bliss.

Anyone know of such a store?

Moo Cow Grassy Ass,
Steve

Auntiebling knows of a place in the south bay, but I forget the name

Fry's quit restocking their component aisles years ago. They still exist but they're mostly empty space.

Even before then, it wasn't good enough for oddball semiconductors and the like for pinball machines and anything else I ran across.

Just go ask the nice folks at the counter in Berkeley.

There might be a Quement Electronics near you.

A hobby type shop?? I know a few people really into building rc cars n stuff. They get all their componentsfrom the hobby stores.

This is gonna seem like a weird suggestion, but try Kelly Moore spray centers. Its the locations that repair all the paint sprayers n stuff. They carry alot of electrical components. Capacitors n such....

There used to be a place in the BA called HSC, a surplus electronic store, but I noticed the one in Rohnert Park looked closed last week when I was in town.

There's still one in Santa Clara. Just south of Lawrence Expressway just off Central Expressway.

HSC Electronic Supply
3500 Ryder St
Santa Clara, CA 95051

Edit: Just realized, it is Halted, which was already mentioned earlier.

In Oakland:

Brill Electronics, 610 E 10th St.

Wat? They're still around?!? I thought that one that was on Bascom in San Jose was the only one. And that went away like 20+ years ago.

They would absolutely have it. But omg what a disaster it is finding stuff in there.

Its Halted as sandy mentioned, and yes it is a disaster though the employees seem to know where things are... And expensive on some levels. They also purged a bunch of stuff due to losing the adjoining warehouse.

There's also Weird Stuff Warehouse. Its more of a tech junkyard but if you're in the area stop by and kill some time. The WTF factor is worth a stop

Shit, I haven't been to Weird Stuff since the mid-90s... :laughing
