Hi there,
I found a thread on another forum about swapping a yamaha YZ125 engine into an aprilia RS50.
I'm thinking of trying something similar, which parts from the YZ would need to be swapped into the aprilia - for example, would I need the yamaha CDI box, ignition coils etc.?

Pretty much all the wiring-harness and components from the Yamaha engine.

pretty much any thing that makes the bike run
electronics, carb, radiators hardest thing an expansion chamber that fits the small bike and works with the 125 motor

look into a crf150r motor, four stroke, same things electronics , carb , radiators , nicest this you can get a small lighting coil for this motor from baja designs. this will allow you to keep it on the street with lighting.

Don't forget about having to mess with pre-mix oil to. That was the MAIN reason for doing a 4 stroke swap in my YSR.

P.S. It's for sale.

Thanks heaps guys :)

One more question - the crf/yz don't seem to have much in the way of a wiring loom (at least I couldn't find one on bikebandit). To keep the RS streetable, would I be better off getting a lighting kit for the crf and moving the whole shebang over to the RS, or upgrade the crf stator and patch the crf stator, CDI box and coils into the RS wiring loom?

P.S. It's for sale.
I saw that the other day, it's sweet! I'm out in Davis tho and there's no minimoto tracks nearby so I'd have nowhere to run it :(
