How long after the expired date will you drink milk? Does the bottle not being opened yet change your perspective on the expiration date? I just drank some milk that is 6 days past the date but it was unopened. Will I turn into a zombie?

Oh if no one has seen this then please sit down and watch it. It was created by the milk industry and I laugh every time I watch it.

Buy organic milk, the stuff lasts for weeks (month). We never have milk spoil in the frig any more which makes it a value even with the higher price.

3 days but smell it first :laughing

Milk is fucking disgusting, no need to worry about expiration.

back when i drank it still... if it expired in my custody and didn't smell funky i drank it.

What does it smell like to you if bad. Everyone says it smells sour but that is how milk normally smells to me. I guess if Alien Nation was still around I could just have one of those guys taste test it but then I would have to throw the guy into my salt bath cause you know, aliens are real.

if the smell changes, it's bad. it'll also get chunky like runny mashed potatoes in severe cases

God that's disgusting.

Milk... bleh. It's already gross, just having that image makes it worse.

Could have done without the graphics Bryan :laughing Chunks should not be in the milk :laughing

If it's not chunky and foul smelling, I let the kids be the testers- unknowingly. If it's over a few weeks past I throw it out without the test.

It's very rare that I have cow's milk. If I do, it's organic. We mostly do almond, sometimes soy.

If it's beyond the expiration date I toss it. It's a psychological thing. Like when the warning light to change the water filter comes on, my wife instantly goes ballistic over it. :laughing

i'm just trying to educate here dar. entopic seems to have a messed up olfactory sense so... public safety?

i accidentally fed my kid soured milk once and he didn't say anything till he was almost done eating it. i felt like such a shitheel.

almond is frequently full of sugar, and soy is the walmart of vegetables. organic plain coconut milk ftw! it's expensive so i only really use it in my coffee, gave up drinking milk of any kind years ago

meh. the pretty things gets close to ridiculous about tossing food/drink ON the expiration date (or even the date that says "best by:", or "sell/freeze by".

I use the dates as a guideline, and let my senses make the final call.

you're welcome!

milk is sugarfilled fat water anyway. pasteurized homogenized anyway.

raw milk is $$$ and spoils too fast. water, whiskey, a little beer, a little coffee. not necessarily in that order

Almost always almond, sometimes soy, both organic and unsweetened. We mostly use it for the sugar bomb cereal.

If you do not drink a lot of milk but still need some in the house buy the Lactose Free stuff. Looks at the expiration date it should be almost 2 months away. We started using because oldest daughter is lactose intolerant. Taste the same and lasts twice as long.

I think it's considered safe seven days after sell date. The tricky thing I have noticed about milk and half-n-half etc is that the bit dried up around the top of the carton can get stinky before the product below actually is. But in general, I toss it a week after sell date.
