Needles have never, ever bothered me, except for the crazy looking ones they use when injecting nocacaine at the dentists.

When icing my eyebrow after it had been done (to keep the swelling down) I got bothered with the temperature transfer of the stainless steel jewelry - I didn't like the sensation of something ice cold beneath my skin, especially so close to my skull. Howver, when I'm cleaning and rinsing it, I tend to use very hot water, and I enjoy the sensation of the piping hot metal under my skin. Its a curious sensation, certainly.

Interesting, I have no awareness of temperature in that regard. Except w/my tongue and that's because cold stays in the metal a bit longer.

The nurse who helped me out of my wetsuit in the ER last night certainly got a surprise.

As for my experience with transfer of temperature: Titanium is the quickest, followed by implant-grade stainless steel, then 18 carat gold. I wear pretty big gauge stuff so I can really feel the cold... inside and out. And yes, I have 3 18 carat gold barbels weighing over an ounce that I can wear in my frenum piercings, that makes MD rather weighty.
