I have a problem with face shield fogging on these cold mornings. I have to ride with it partially open (modular helmet). Anyone have a similar problem and a good solution?

thanks

loogie on it and wipe it off? works for diving masks...different atmospheric reality, I know. Might work. Really.

Yes, I think pretty common problem, and I do the same that you do OP, leave it slightly open.

We can put a man on the moon, but can't prevent faceshield fogging...:p

I got a pinlock setup but never used it because the plastic flexible piece thing simply does not stay pushed against the visor. I can't seem to adjust it in any way.

What PG said, or one of a number of other options. Just like a SCUBA mask, if you can get a thin film of something on the visor, it helps a lot. My usual thing is to spread toothpaste (non-abrasive type) on it, then rinse it off (don't agressively wipe it, just rinse until clear). Many people use dish soap as well. Same process.

Whether you use the CG spray, something similar, or one of the SCUBA tricks, you will still have to re-apply the treatment now and then. There are also anti-fog wipes available. They're the same as the spray, but are more convenient (and expensive).

cat crap seems to be a BARF favorite. I'm sure cyclegear will have some choices in the anti-fog department, and there is rain-x antifog spray or wipes. cracking the visor helps too as mentioned above.

Don't be a dirty mouth breather. That helps. :twofinger

Hmm interesting, thanks. Not cheap is it...jeez, but will have to try it out.

one application lasts me about a week, by carefully sealing the wipe back in the pack I get at least two applications from each wipe. 15 packs usually last me the winter

cat crap helps - i've used it a few times but doesnt last as long as i hoped... maybe i'm doing it wrong.

This is the best solution. Nothing beats the Fog City liners. I've used these for about 15 years on all my helmet visors, and I've never had any of them fog in any weather conditions. The wipes and the anti-fog solutions fail after a week or two and need to be reapplied, but with the Fog City unit you only have to install it once, and that's it.
And don't waste your money on the pin-lock system, these will go on any visor, as long as you make sure to buy the correct one for your helmet.

Pin Lock System works for me... for the most part.

It does a decent job of keeping fog off the visor, but it creates annoying halos at night. I use to use Fog City visor inserts, but had the same halo issue. The Pin Lock System allows me to remove the visor insert if I get too annoyed, yet reinstall it again later. Can't do that with the Fog City System.

I haven't found anything that works 100%. Not even 50%. I ride with my shield open, or with my moto helmet and goggles.

Barracuda can be found at better eye glass stores, been using for years, living in Idaho you learn what works, soak a small lens cloth and keep in a small plastic bag in jacket, Rain ex on the outside and your set

Pinloc for me. FYI it s adjustable, the hex shaped things rotate, the pins are offcenter, allowing you to adjust the tension to keep it snug with the face shield.

I've had really good luck with the Respro Foggy Mask. When properly installed, I've never had issues with fogging in rain or cold.

I'd recommend getting the black color because other colors will reflect on the inside of your visor in bright sunshine. Note that everyone's nose is different so the Foggy Mask may not work for you if you have a big schnoz. Take time to install it correctly and test fit. If you just stuff it in your helmet as you run out the door the first foggy morning, it probably won't work right. Proper fit is really important.

I always leave the chin vent on my helmet open, I open the visor one click at low speeds (<20 mph), and I open the visor all the way when stopped at a light for a long time. Doing this, I have zero problems with fog, not even on my glasses. I have no special coating on my visor.
