That was terrible. I have seen some nasty stuff working trauma but that wins by far.
 
The most basic functions are controlled by the brain stem, the part that sits at the back of your neck. This injury obliterated his face and probably most of the front of his brain. The heart rate and breathing were still going on because the brain stem was not effected. The scary part is that he may have been alert to some extent during the 2 days after the injury, depending on the damage to the rest of the brain.
 
Not too many on here with a medical background I see. It really isn’t that unbearable to watch. Emergency rooms and military medics deal with this stuff daily. Thank God they can because the speed we all love so much from motorcycling can put you in this guy’s predicament any day and we would like for people to be able to handle it.
Consider all the risky and dumb shit we’ve done as teens and gotten away with. Sometimes I’m surprised to be still alive.
Full face helmet would have helped, perhaps an airbag. I don’t think loud pipes would have help much though.

Damn people have some weak stomachs. That or mine is unusually stable. I watched the entire vid, while eating a caramel popcorn cake.

The only thing I was thinking is... "Yup, that was a good idea. Darwin was quick to join in the games".
 
That gave me a headache after watching it. I can only imagine what it was like in the ER room.. or with the people that helped him out of the water.

Wow that was very graphic. I have seen a lot of things on the net and that is now up on the top 3 list.
