Why spend the $$$

It was halted in 1969 (according to google) so I would go with 69 or earlier.
I'm aware... the black plates were to 69, the blue plates were to 81, then white plates 82 onward. Unless they were going to also offer a legacy blue plate, I would have rounded up to 79 or 80 and older for the black plates.
Just my (unpopular) opinion, but I think the black plates look silly on newer cars. :2cents

I like that idea, bring back the plates that were available when a given vehicle was sold. So we get the blue and yellow plates back as well.

The blue plates went past 1981. I was issued a blue plate in 1986/87. Still have it on a bike. This is an old pic.

Blue plates "originally issued by the state from 1969 through 1981 (and used concurrently into 1987)"
But nobody cares about 80's cars anyway. :laughing

Technically, the new ā€œvintageā€ plates are a very dark brown. Due to them being reflectorized. The original plates from the 60’s are just black.

This is his left side garage commuter. He's got a Lucid Air Saphire with the plate: RAYGUN that he parks on the right side of the garage, and a motorcycle with the plate MCDNLD that sits between the cars.
