This is something that has seemed to have changed after one of the Firefox updates over the last few months.

When I right-click on a link and choose "Open Link in New Tab", it opens it in a new tab--but the new tab steals focus. I can't figure out how to change this back to the way it used to be. I used to be able to CTRL-click (open in new tab) a bunch of news articles on, say, Google News, or a handful of different BARF threads, and they'd all open in the background (all the while keeping me on the same page).

Ideas?

try installng the addin "Tab mix plus" and check in the options there to set the focus

Goto Tools, Options, Tabs, then uncheck the box "When I open a tab, switch to it immediately."
