First Costco in China opens, opening day what could go wrong?

I imagine the parking lot is like a mega version of the Ranch 99 situation.

So let’s say 37 fender benders, 6 hit pedestrians, 2 ghost rider shopping carts, 248 seven point turns to back out of a spot and leave, and approximately 3.4 million door dents.

Oh and a line longer than the Great Wall itself of cars waiting to get gas.

Yea, I’m in the Asian parts of San Jose often, and it’s pretty scary in the parking lots.

Surprisingly when I was in China last year I noticed that in general they drive pretty well over there. Controlled chaos.

Asians including women are decent drivers until they try to multitask. My girlfriend drives great until she starts talking too much and/or looking at her phone, which I don’t ever condone.

Hell, she said she once changed her clothes AND underwear while driving on the freeway. :wow

Wohoo! Merica in China!

I'm outraged the numbers guy gets to use part of dickbutt as his avatar even though we all know what dickbutt looks like in its entirety!

Putting hands on raw pork ripping it apart, goddamn.

Everyone unbunch their long johns, was an obvious joke to anyone but the overly sensitive.

Not everyone works in construction but in overly sensitive HR firms. know your audience. I thought it was funny

costco
fucking
sucks

hope the day comes soon when we can say" remember costco? ". oh, yeah wasn't that the place that people paid a membership to shop at?

The reason I don't shop at Costco on Sunday is that so many workaholic Asians (not just Chinese) have a family religious experience and/or holiday on that day there because they work six days a week and have to restock the mini-mart or just home stuff. So, reading this OP story was well....fitting. I hope the stereotype is okay because it affirms the opposite of lazy. I wanna respect em but I hate being crowded. The cagey local staff therefore doesn't do free stuff on Sunday, I don't think (because I haven't gone on Sunday in years), that seems to be on Friday. I avoid all free sample days because it's ridiculous. I just want to get in and out as fast as possible.

Not particularly Asian thing but I always have to throw in pet peeve about Costco, which is people who lean on shopping cart and shove themselves around real slow-like the cart is a portable IV cart. In my FUCKING way!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry, I'm a white devil)

And yes, welcome to Costco, I love you.

South City Costco.....fcking stupid busy. I used to go to that one but I learned my lesson the first time, DO NOT GO ON WEEKENDS or after 4pm.

Costco purposely pairs their low prices with horrendous shopping conditions, because their highest margin customers are those that have membership, but almost never shop there.

My favorite Costco experience was when I bought patio furniture there. It was then that I realized that unlike any other furniture vendor - where you would normally buy the goods and then drive out back for loading - Costco actually expects you to bring every piece of furniture through the register. It's an impossible experience unless you bring about 5 friends to help out.

It doesn't make sense until you realize that Costco doesn't actually want you to buy any of the furniture, they just want you to think that someday, you might buy the furniture, because it's such a damn good deal.

hmm, should I join Costco? I bet I'd buy enough food to feed 100 when in all actuality I just need to feed myself.

and the dogs, of course.

No. If you're a single person and also a couple, joining barely makes sense for one or two people.

Aside from paying membership one will probably get more stuff than they need to and the food will start spoiling.

(Unless living in extra urban areas where the only stores are Walmart or Costco.. it maaay start making more sense. Maybe.)

Once again, you could buy liquor without a membership. Bring..cash. I guess that's the not-easy part.
