Looking for some good fishing spots... Just got done night fishing at Oakland pier and came up with donut... I am using fish and worm not trying to use a jig or anything. Any reccomendations where to fish in either sf or Oakland or north bay? Night spots and day spots

San Pablo Reservoir rent a row boat.
Lafayette Reservoir is good for a couple 2lb trout easy. Paved walk way around entire lake.

see a lot of guys fishing off ocean beach south of sloat blvd. same with the pacifica pier. never seen anyone catch anything at ocean beach except maybe a cold. another thing with ocean beach is the city sewage treatment plant is right there.

I went to Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. I like HMB the most.
I particularly like the low/hide tide transition. This is the best time to catch/fish.
I got 3 Monkeyface eels and 4 Crabs on my last trip.
The eels taste like fish but a bit strange initially.

question for you guys.. what kind of bait do you use for the most part? i know it all depeneds on what your going for, but does worm and hook hold up pretty well?

The pier in Pacifica can be really good fishing. I've had a lot of luck as a kid with sections of pile worms on small bait hooks.

What worm you using?

In the bay you want pile worms, ghost or grass shrimp. Maybe some live or frozen anchovies or herring. I wouldn't use nightcrawlers in then bay or ocean, save those for freshwater.

I've had decent luck with pile worms.

Wander into the local tackle shop and ask 'em what's biting and what to use. They know the answers to which you seek.

that was my other thing i was thinking about.... i came across this website... http://www.bayareafishing.com really fucking cool they give you suggestions on where to go, what type of bait to use, how to set up your rig, and tons of other shit... its so cool!! :thumbup

Oh okay. Yeah brah... them nightcrawlers aren't gonna get you anything in the bay. What is the longest rod you have? Bass and salmon rods in the 8' to 9' length will work depending on what kind of fishing you plan on doing? Since it sounds like you want to soak some bait use frozen anchovies, sardines, shad, cut squid, pile worms, ghost/grass shrimp, frozen market shrimp and/or frozen market clams.

Don't let the bait soak on the bottom else you will only be feeding the crabs. Throw back the dungees. Study the tide. Possible target fish are perch, flounder, striper, smelts, anchovies. Halibut, sturgeon, salmon, sharks and rays are out there too. Not saying all these are out there waiting for your bait. As with any fishing... ya gotta put in the time.

We got plenty of fresh water fishing to braddah! Go do some catfishing, largemouth bass, striper and/or trout! Man I need to go... it has been awhile!
