I was using my charge 6 for about a year. Google took over a while ago but the Fitbit app was recently replaced with the google app. I didn't like it and started giving them feedback. One of the stupid things it would do is wake me up to let me know I was not sleeping well.

After a couple weeks, the Fitbit died while being charged. The battery was fine, lasted about a week, so I think G man decided they didn't want to hear from me anymore and killed it.

Now I am trying an amazfit Band 7. It was only $40! We'll see how it goes...

Setup is a PITA. You have to enter a captcha in the app. Then it will take about 10 minutes to update the FW.

Ya know, once upon a time, people didn’t have useless things like a FitBit. They would exercise and sleep and do everything without any useless feedback.

Throw the thing away, don’t replace it, and live a simpler life.

I always wanted to create some stickers with the Fitbit design and logo but call it "futbut" with the logo "just get your ass in gear"

I just moved to Garmin. I'm not going back to fitbit.

I did get all of my money back, I learned early to ensure a fitbit for 3 years and you will almost always get your money back.

Several of my friends have Garmin. I don't - I am scared by the amount of data it collects.
For my needs, my trusty Casio G-Shock will suffice plenty. If I am doing heart-rate based training then I will use Wahoo chest strap HRM (without pairing it with phone bluetooth) on the runs and then sync up afterwards to analyze. This need-based combination gives accurate yet simple statistics for my workouts.
YMMV

I’m with ST Guy. I exercise regularly but I’m not training for the Olympics so I don’t need numbers to show me how fit I am.

My feedback analytics come from how easy I can carry grocery bags into the house or go up a flight of stairs.

I have a Garmin, but mostly I hate digital clothing, so I hardly ever wear it.

What I use the most is the sleep monitors, alarms and timers. I do ride a bike and it's great for that, but it's a small part of what I use a watch for.

Garmin is my recommendation. And you don’t have to connect it to the internet so you can keep everything private if you want.

I moved to Apple after Google started googlelizing the Fitbit. I know it is Apple but it works for me. Plus the watch called EMS when I crashed.

Apple is generally the best choice for anything computer related. But they are also more expensive.

Does anyone know why Apple didn’t become the world standard for computers world wide? Clue: For the same reason Betamax failed.

Garmin. Apple's problem is battery life, especially if you want to run it for 48 hours. Garmin's universe is huge.

So far the amazfit is working well. I feel it did a good job tracking my sleep. It supposedly monitors for hypopnea. It has a huge amount of watch faces too.

Yeah those seem cool. I bought one for my mom who decided it was too complicated, so I gave it to the GF who wore it for a day or two. I'll never buy another tech thing for anyone again. But it looks like a good one, anyone want one?

This is patently false.

Because they don't work as well as other devices given certain requirements.

Nope. Apple lost out because they were too greedy. They refused to make their operating system available to other companies so that they could also make computers that ran on Apple's OS. Sony lost out on Betamax because they refused other companies access to their technology and so the other companies went with the VHS format. And Betamax died. And Apple didn't learn that lesson until it was too late and Microsoft became the major player. Apple did, finally, open up their OS to other companies who then made hardware to run their OS. But it was too late, by then. Corporate greed.

If your slinging PCs on corporate/government desktops and a mickey soft PC is a third of the cost of a mac the bean counters will make the choice. Not to mention back in the 90s the big network software was Netware and MSPCs could load the NetWare connector no problem while macs were much more fussy and if you got it work the macs had a hard time reading MS files. Then MS office became the dominant suite and office for macs was always a year or two behind. In the mid 90s MS started making server OSs, remember NT server, and for decades through many server OS versions MS didn't charge for connection licenses like Netware did.
