Has anyone ever gotten one of these for license plate not clearly visible or integrated turn signal/brake lights? And if so what did you do?

got a list if fix-it items on a ticket...yeah, had to fix it and took it to a police station (san bruno) to get it signed off...my exhaust was within legal sound limits, so didn't need to fix that...about all day in court and out with about $20 in fines

fix it, which means put it back to stock. then, go to the agency office that wrote you the ticket, and get it signed off on.

so if it's CHP that wrote you the ticket, go to a CHP office. if it's alameda county sheriff, go to a sheriff's office, etc.

i think you should fight it,

any officer can sign off a ticket from any agency, with the exception of some commercial vehicle violations that require special training to check, or if you are sent to the smog ref.

in fact, some agencies will charge you to sign off a ticket, so its best to call and check before going there. The CHP does not charge to sign off violations. :thumbup

Sporochid (& Rel)-

Is it really necessary for the issuing agency to sign off the ticket? I had Alameda PD sign off on a CHP ticket a while back, sent it in and haven't heard anything back one way or the other. I paid the fee (I think it was $10) & sent in the signed off ticket.

Going to go look up the ticket info online now to make sure it was cleared!
(If I can find the old ticket #, that is) :facepalm

Any officer can sign off any ticket regardless of issuing agency. Some departments charge for this, we (CHP) does not.

FWIW, certain violations can only be signed off by DMV. I believe this applies to license and registration violations. Sounds like the op's violations should be able to get signed off by any law enforcement agency.

Speaking from experience :toothless you can get registration violations cleared by any officer.

BUT: If there is a hold on your registration or DL renewal because of a fix-it ticket, you must obtain an "abstract" to bring to the DMV to show that you have resolved the ticket.

I just went through this and it was a MAJOR pain in the ass. I'll tell you one thing, I'll never let my registration expire ever again! Holy crap, what an expensive lesson that was.

cops can't ticket you for more things wrong on your bike after you fix and bring it in, can they?

I got the same ticket for a integrated tail and just went and bought a stock blinker and licence plate holder. the officer who wrote me the ticket could have wrote me up for more but he was very cool about it and the officer who signed me off after I fixed it was also very cool about it, they both were actually motorcycle riders too and we ended up talking bikes for a while.

If you're worried about getting more tickets on your way to get a ticket signed off, you might be a redneck.:laughing:twofinger

Now you know why I never got a fender eliminator kit for the ZX12R. I really like the look of these, especially as I had a hugger too. But to have to go thru the hassle of returning it to stock, & giving a reason to get pulled, talked myself into not getting one.

Shame, I like they way they look....

Hire a lawyer and fight this invasion of your constitutional rights.

It depends on the agency and officer at the time you go to get it signed off on.

I've had the 'speech' given to me, that you have to get it signed off by the issuing agency, and that's within the last two yrs. Just telling you what the LEOs told me.

If you have a friend who's a LEO, that's different. but in order NOT to waster your time, just go to the issuing agency, and get it signed off, instead of possibly running around to get it signed.

When I have gone to the agency that issued the ticket, I've never been turned away.
