For those who still have doubts about vaccine effectiveness

You could not have had the time to read the CDC study yourself (that i mistakenly did not post the link to)

'nough said....
You only have to read the first paragraph of the article to see that it's written by a very biased person with an agenda. :thumbdown

I'd say he definitely has an agenda.

https://www.virginiamercury.com/202...bout-glenn-youngkins-newest-covid-19-adviser/

Some of the appointees have been on the frontlines of Virginia’s response since the start, including Nancy Howell Agee, president and CEO of Carilion Clinic, and Executive Chairman Alan Levine of Ballad Health, the southwestern hospital system that’s seen some of the state’s highest COVID admissions. Chairing the group, though, is Dr. Marty Makary, a surgical oncologist and professor at Johns Hopkins University who’s become an outspoken medical commentator for Fox News.

In one of his splashiest columns for the Wall Street Journal — published in February of 2021, as cases in Virginia and much of the country were on a steep and unexpected decline — Makary predicted that COVID-19 would be “mostly gone” by that April. The reason, he wrote, would be natural immunity combined with vaccines, which would protect enough Americans to nearly halt transmission of the virus.

The piece was criticized by some of Makary’s colleagues at Johns Hopkins, including infectious disease professor Dr. Stuart Ray, who compared it to former President Donald Trump’s early claims that the pandemic would be over by Easter of 2020. And unfortunately, both the delta and omicron surges have proven Makary wrong.

We're #1 - and not in a good way.

The only large European countries to exceed America’s Covid death rates this winter have been Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Greece and the Czech Republic, poorer nations where the best Covid treatments are relatively scarce.

Universal Health Care and more Covid restrictions seem to have led to more positive outcomes.

"The problem with natural immunity is that it's free" -big pharma (probably)

Well, from June of 2021 till year end 163,000 unvaccinated died trying the Natural Immunity approach.

I'm guessing less than that, a lot less, died FROM the vaccine itself.

Since December 2020, more than 469 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the U.S., and VAERS has received 10,483 reports of death (0.0022%), according to the CDC. (Numbers as of Dec. 29, 2021.)

However, that statistic offers no insight into the cause of death for those people.

If a 90-year-old nursing home resident got the vaccine and then died days, weeks or even months later of another ailment, the resident’s death would be reported to VAERS.

The vaccine lessens your viral load.
The vaccine lessens your chance of contracting Covid.
The vaccine lessens the severity if you contract Covid.

People are still showing they are not SMEs when it comes to science and, more especially, COVID-19. You absolutely cannot continue to believe what your chosen media/information source tells you at face value. I'd be willing to bet that 99.8% of BARFers are not virologists, microbiologists or an infectious disease doctor. Thus, the vast majority of us have no clue what we're talking about here. We're not experts, but armchair quarterbacking is definitely the American way so...

Good luck with that, Dravnx. You can stand on your head and do an Irish jig while you say it and people are still going to miss the basic concept you're trying to convey.

I write this on Day 12 of my first COVID round having been quadruple boosted myself. I got the newest booster on Monday, September 12 along with the flu jab. On Tuesday I went mountain biking and felt great - no sore arm, no ill effects from the shots on the day of or afterwards.

On September 24 I started showing symptoms, and on the 25th started full time staying in bed. Doc put me on Paxlovid course a couple days after it started. Completed that.

Of course, we'll never know how bad it might have been had I
- not been vaxxed
- not been boosted
- not been boosted so close to when I was exposed
- not taken the Paxlovid
- not gotten the flu shot at the same time.

What I think we can pretty safely say for sure is that whatever might have been, this is less severe since I have been vaccinated than it would have been had I not.

So we do have some people here who have had the vaxes X3 or 4 and still managed to get the rona too.
I'm glad you are on the mend Dravnx.
Nope, none of us are virologists this is true. We can only guess and speculate (armchairing it) as well as second guess the media of ones choice too.
Why is it that one cant question the science? Especially when it seems to come from one source. Since none of it seems to be tested and peer reviewed? or at least I cant find anything to that taste on the interwebs. Isn't that what science is about testing and retesting and coming up with corroborating results?
Makes one question the efficacy of the jabs if you can still catch it after 4 jabs or more? I'm not an antivaxer by any means, Its just that a vaccine as i once knew it meant you got a shot and you didnt catch things like polio or small pox. Just my .02

We did have a couple in house experts posting in here early on with covid, abs many of us really appreciated their contributions. Eventually, they both stopped after getting hounded enough by lay person deniers. Dr-SLO in particular posted up numerous podcast links and studies and such by actual professionals. If you were really interested, you could find them in this forum.

As for one and done, depends on the disease, depends on the vaccine. But even most childhood endemic vaccines are a series with boosters, not just one. But there have long been annual flu vaccines.

Indeed. When I joined the Army, even though I tried to get out of it by showing all my vaccination records from childhood indicating I already had them as a kid, they still jabbed me with the polio and MMR vaccines. That polio one sucked! Couldn't sit down on my right ass cheek for three days without some severe pain. :laughing

When I went into the ARMY back in the 70s they used a nematic gun to vaccinate and as I passed by in the line for my shot the guy sliced my arm!

I wonder how many are actually “virologists, microbiologists or infectious disease doctors” here.

DR_SLO is.
Shaggy has cred. Others too. I have asked real questions and gotten real answers here.

I just got an appointment to get boosted.

Did you read the last three posts?

Sorry was it you that caught the Rona??? If so my apologies.
Funny how people are called deniers if they don’t believe what the status quo believes.
As I’ve said I’m no anti Vaxxer ,and yes it is correct when the older crowd got Vaxxed as children there was a series of shots.
