So I was riding Saturday from Berkeley to Palo Alto and on 880 South Bound I saw a couple of ladies on bikes, and I read curve unit.com on one of the bikes.

So I was curious, had never heard of it before, so I googled it when I got home. Read through it, thinking hey, my daughter rides and might be interested in this group.

As I was reading through their site, I saw a link to BARF, checked it out, and here I am.

I ride a BMW R1100RT, I'm a member of Patriot Guard, Been riding since I was 10, I'm 44 now. My daughter is my ride buddy, she's 18, but away at college and training to be a Marine Officer. Oh, and I'm a former Marine, Marine for Life.

See you guys on the road - not sure if I'll be at BARF or not as I have an event that day with my business, but if I can make it I will.

Keep the shiny side up!:thumbup

Welcome!! Good place to chat... and find rides/friends.

:newbie JB!! :flag

Enjoy the site; hope your daughter signs up as well! :)

Come out to the local meets/events - bikes aren't mandatory (esp. in winter).

Thanks Yana,

I'll pass the site info over to my daughter. She's in Washington, so we only ride together now on those rare visits home. But she is due to come home in a couple of weeks, so we'll pull her bike out of the garage and hit the road, that's for sure.

I don't usually let a little rain stop me from riding. I ride for PGR and do group rides very, very often. I'm frequently a road guard, with PGR we take the intersections during certain events (ie: funeral, troop escort, etc.) But when riding for pleasure of course, we don't do that.

My daughter rides a cruiser, Yamaha V Star. Of course I'm on a sport tour.

Anyhow, thanks for the welcome. I'm sure I'll see you on the road.

Sweeet! You're lucky to have a nice riding partner! :thumbup

I ride in the wet only if caught in it or it's just a light drizzle - bike needs to get washed occasionally, right? ;)

Hey, James! Welcome to BARFing!! :thumbup

:newbie

Being from the East coast, I find that winter does NOT exist out here. Rain is neither snow, ice, sleet, or hail, so I ride all year here. :laughing

Yeah, having grown up in Southern Louisiana, I find it strange what they call rain here.

I'm like, if you can see through it, it just ain't raining hard yet.

Glad you took that extra step to reach out! Have a great time on the forum, and hope to see you out on the road. BTW - Curve Unit is riding the Little Dragon this Sunday if you're interested.

Maybe,

I'll dig up the details on it.

I was planning on trying to get some PGR's over to Simmie's fund raiser, which I believe is the same day. Maybe the ride, then dinner at the raiser...

I'll talk to the little lady, aka "the boss" and see what she's up for.

Semper Fi. I was in the Marines as well. Welcome to the forums and ride safe!

Oohrah! Semper Fi!

You folks know about the Pleasanton Veterans Day Parade on Nov 1st?

Theme is "Honoring the Devil Dogs"

Medal of Honor winners, survivors of Iwo and Chosin, are going to be there,

PGR is riding in the parade - 2 bikes in front of the MOH, and the rest in tow.

Thanks,

Based on our conversation, I posted a few vet and uniformed service members benefit events in the Social Gathering Section.

By the way, in the spirit of my original post here. I'm in Washington visiting my daughter at the moment, and I told her about the Curve Unit ladies I saw that day on the 880, and how I looked it up because I had never heard of them.

Sure enough, she's excited about it. She misses her bike (the weather here sucks), but she's coming home next weekend, so we're riding!

She'll probably connect with Curve Unit soon. She keeps telling me how cool it is for her, being a Chick on a bike.... she likes the attention.

I've attached a photo of her from when were welcoming some soldiers home at SJ Airport over the summer.
