...well sort of....student welding.

I'm taking a MIG and TIG welding class and am tired of welding scrap metal together. Does anyone need anything welded that doesnt require professional welding? Mild steel, aluminum, and stainless only, please. Disclaimer: I'll give it my best shot but no guarantee of results due to various alloys of unknown weldability. Please limit it to basic bracketry or smaller items; I don't want to carry any chopper frames to class.

PM with your contact info.:teeth

Da Man!

I've got some cast iron lawn furniture that needs to be fixed. and a weight bench that needs to be straightened out. :teeth

where are you taking your welding classes? times?cost?

I've always been interested in those. you get to weld your stuff for free. hehe

I would love to take a welding class. It has always facinated me and although I understand the fundamentals it has still remained somewhat of a mystery.

I got some YSR rearsets that needs to be welded. I'll take a picture and post it here. Let me know if you want to tackle it as a project. :thumbup

The turbo mounting bracket on my bike is boned. Dont suppse youd mind wheeling my bike into the shop and fixing it? :teeth

No? Damn.

How about some metal designs for windows in my front door?

I wanna pimp that shit out, mang.

Oh and some basement vent screens?

hahaha. if you think stainless is a bitch, just wait till aluminum. tig aluminum is probably the hardest form of welding, with the exception of flame welding aluminum (not used anymore). my suggestion to you that the welding instructor might not tell you is GO FAST. the aluminum will kind of blob and melt altogether, not just your welding puddle. crank the amps up and go really quick, and feel free to stop and let it cool down. keep up the good work man!!

Your lucky. At my school we got leftover peices of scrap metal to weld on. I'm glad that class is over. I need to know the basic mechanics of it but will not do that sort of work when I get out of school. Good luck with the class and what school are you going to?
