I've been trying to figure out this place for a while now.

About a month ago, on craigslist there was a huge rant about them due to customer service. Then over here, there seems to be no problem with them, and everyone seems to like them. Whats the story?

Also, question about them... The bikes they sell... are those bikes they bought w/ salvage titles and are re-selling as-is, or did they buy them, add parts, remove borken ones, ect. and then now are selling them as-is? Am I right to assume that every bike for sale there has a salvage title?

Most 'salvage' dealers rebuild the bikes to roadworthy condition before selling them. Keep in mind that "salvage" means that the insurance company wrote off the vehicle as costing more to fix than it was worth... on some bikes this might mean a total rebuild, on others, it could be the fairings got thrashed. All depends on the model year.

With ANY used bike, if you're not familiar with what to look for, take a friend along who is. The dealer is the expert of course... but he's not YOUR expert, as nuice a guy as he or she appears. Some are straight up, others might try and snow you.

So far I've only had a couple of dealings with FSS, and they've been straight-up. Same goes for Supercycles of Concord -- the salvage folks in Vallejo, well... I wasn't impressed with the bikes they had for sale, they didn't look roadworthy to me at all.

hehe their called fremont cycle SALVAGE lol.. for a reason, most of their bikes are in good conditon when they pick it up, slavage due to fairing cosmetic damages or theif? they probly fix it up and resel it.

Some the bikes they fix, some of them they sell they way they get them. I picked up my 929 from them in perfect running condition minus the fairings.

perhaps you should stop by the shop and see for yourself, thatd be the easiest way to judge on your own.

I bought a Katana shock for my GS from them back in the summer. First the good. The mechanic in the back helped me find the part and pay for it. We even went outside to look at another GS to make sure the remote adjuster would work. We talked for a while and came up with a fair price. Very cool guy and knew what he was doing. The shock even looked like it was in really good shape.

Now the not-so-good. The phone service is an absolute joke. I call in the morning and get put on hold. I'm promptly forgotten (like 15 minutes here) and someone eventually picks up and asks if I've been helped. I get put on hold again and sit for a while until finally someone asks what I'm looking for. I told the guy I was looking for a Katana shock and he said they'd look for it in the warehouse. I called back later to see if they had found anything and the guy said they did not.

A friend of mine said I should try going down anyway so I did. I get there and the counter guys wouldn't give me the time of day. One of them was talking to another customer who had already paid for his stuff. The customer even asked the counter guy if he should help me but the counter guy said it didn't matter. I was getting thoroughly PO'ed at this point. The guy finally asks what I am looking for and I tell him. He says he needs to check in the back and runs off. I'm waiting around a couple minutes and he comes out but chooses to ignore me again. He goes and helps someone else who came in after me without saying a word about the shock. Somehow I got another counter guy to help but the phone rings and I am without help once more. I gave up trying to get help from them and just looked around the store a bit. I forget what I did but the mechanic came out while I was browsing and asked if I needed help.

The service you get seems to depend on who helps you. Maybe they were having a bad day or something who knows

I haven't had a bad experience with Fremont Cycle Salvage. They had a CB400 that i was tempted to buy.

RD400man

Nothing but good experience with them, but you have to go up to them and ask what you need coz if you just wait for them to approach you it won't happen look very busy everytime I was there..bought my first bike and lot of stuff from them and ask a lot of question with good results. I was told some of the bikes are from auction and have to sell them with salvage title due to the nature of their business.

Well, Ive only had a short experience with them, and it wasnt that good. I went down to get replacement blinkers, clutch lever, and shift lever for the TL. (All of these had broken off in a crash) I brought down my old broken blinkers and told them to give me ones with the same specs, and I asked them for a clutch, and a shift lever that would work for my bike. Long story short, they gave me the wrong blinkers, and clutch, but the shift lever worked fine. (These were all new products, still in packaging)

Hey, 1 out of 3 aint bad. :rolleyes

So anyway, anyone want a free gixxer/TLS clutch lever?

Check my post for compatibility

Whoa, I just checked thier website and they have a 95 CB1000 for $2200. Too bad I can't get another bike right now. I really like the CB1000s.

a friend of mine when there last week with cash in hand ready for a purchase, he said they didnt give him the time of day so he walked, but then again hes a big sensitive puss :laughing

i recomended them, and ill go there myself. after all places get busy sometimes.. cant blame them.. ;)

Just started using FCS last month. I bought a pipe for my CRF250 and a chain for my Gixxer. They were totally cool and did me up right.

I would reccomend them.:cool

They're kool peepz..jus when it gets busy..phuck its busy..I

bought my Duc from the owner and shyt any lil gripe I have bout

the Duc he is happy to assist me w/ it no bitchin or complainin..I

got a REALLY good deal on it (wasn't easy). Homie even threw in

some tires and slashed prices on their accessories (Helmet,

Leathers,gloves)

GOT DESMO BYTCH!

They tried to charge me more than MSRP for a master cylinder, although they did drop the price (not far enough) after i stubbornly insisted that they look it up.

I've dealth with them a few dozen times in the last few years, they're alright. Made them pull the micro-fish for my old Suzi a lot...although not always excited about doing this for me (who would?) they consistently got me the parts I was needing. Sometimes they took a too long, but all in all I can't complain.

Oh yeah, and I won a nice helmet from their sidewalk sale, so I'm kinda biased. I'm not above bribery!:angel

Just be patient when they're busy, and sometimes that place is hard to find parking, too.

Somehow they're affiliated with Fastline cycles. they repair and service bikes, I've been there too and they seem like they know what they're doing. I'm guessing FCS brings salvaged bikes there to fix, which IMO would be a good thing for them.
