First off, Barf Mods, I'm not trying to start a shitfest. But I do have a legitimate question about the "vacation points" acquired with membership privileges. Also it's raining and my Motorcycle is sad, so here we go.
In reviewing the "accounting" of TOS Violations and how they add up over time, it looks like the debits/credits don't balance for some reason. Now I'm sure each of the reasons the violations occurred were legit by proxy of the famed "Mod Vote", but shouldn't the accounting be just as judicial, fair and correct? Since the "System" is progressive as shown below (Also per TOS 6.3), the Reversals should behave accordingly.
For instance, you will see by the pleasant graphical representation below, a facsimile of what a barf member may see should they glance at their vacation point statement which is clearly available to them at any time.
But what's interesting is that the accounting of Acquired vs. Reversed Credits to the vacation account seems disparate.
Example:
Member gets points for a Violation of BARF TOS. It's for say 7 points. Its then Reversed which essentially eliminates said points never happened. Then they get another, OK 7 points again. If not Reversed, it sticks, and the next Premium Points Award is for 14 Points. Cool, get that, makes perfect sense. But if those Points are Reversed, it should go back to 7 Baseline Points in the account, and a further Violation would equate to earning those 14 Points in the Vacation Account back.
But as you can see, that's not happening. So in the following example, that user would actually have never received those last 30 Points, instead, 21 at most.
I think in all fairness and equity, it should be noted that adjustments may be needed in these Vacation Points accounts when they "may" have not been accounted for correctly. I'm not a math wizard, but I do seem to understand that reversal is the same as (-) minus.
And if the following example is correct, maybe a little "Vacation Points" house cleaning is in order (plus a bonus find of Reversed 21 Points for being a good helper ?) Just sayin.
What does Budman say?
The TOS Reads:
6.3 The suspension tier is as follows: 7 days for the first violation, then 14, 21, 30, 60, & 90.
Therefore, IF a Reversal took place at any time, then the next offense would reflect the previous as not existing.
Again, this is offered as Constructive open discussion, and hopefully a simple solution can be extracted.
