Game of Thrones Season 8

it's cool. I just won't read the thread since it's not really about discussion. All good :thumbup

So these people are putting their women and children in the crypt of Winterfell. Do they not understand how the undead work? Bran for sure has seen the skeletors pop up from the ground.

Maybe but I think there's enough people down there with plot armor (for now), being around them is safer than anywhere.

I too, was not ready for an Arya sex scene.

Nobody was.

I'm tempted to go dig out my LOTR discs and watch the siege of Helms Deep.

I couldn’t shake the similarity either. The Battle of the Bastards kind of stole from that plot line too with the Knights of the Vale riding in just as all hope was lost. I can’t think of any saviors who will come late for Winterfell and save the day, though.

Off topic, but Tolkien relied on that trope a lot. The Eagles (more than once), the Rohirrim, the Dead Men of Dunharrow... lots of ex machina type of last minute armies riding in to victory.

Anyway, I can’t wait for this story to unfold.

Also, keep the memes coming. They are fun in between discussion

SPOILER THEORY DONT READ THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOU DON’T LIKE FAN THEORIES which have always been allowed as I have been the progenitor of I think most of not all GoT threads on BARF and at least can claim some ownership of this one (if that is how things work here, which it probably isn’t). Speculation is fun and as there are no books to actually spoil from and I am not privy to the scripts before the scheduled airing of shows so it’s all just fun guessing.

“The dead are already here” is a chilling teaser which got me thinking, when you are facing an ancient cunning necromancer perhaps the ancient family crypt is not the best place to hide your most vulnerable and important people when said necromancer with powers only hinted at comes to invade. By gum, we might just finally get to see our beloved Ned Stark make a return yet!

Also, I’m kind of pissed Bran didn’t 3-eyed-raven up the recipe for wildfire since I bet it would hella work on the dead. Or Sam. Both those fools have let everyone down. Add in Tyrion and Davos since they both have direct experience with its effectiveness. Dragonglass is cool and all but they could get a lot more bang for their buck if those trebuchets were loaded with pots of wildfire to ignite a fat perimeter of also wildfire for the andvancing army that’s seems to die exceedingly well by flames.

always thought the Huorn participation in the battle of Helm’s Deep was a pretty original and frightening deus ex machina ... just finished rereading it again for the umpteenth time last week ...

The Hand of the Queen May not be so safe and may get to play his part in the great battle of Winterfell after all ... :laughing

I’m going to be seriously bummed if I don’t get to see Cersei standing next to the Night King as the Whitewalker Queen before it’s all over ... didn’t she have a line about how she intends to stay among the living when Jamie was (finally!) deserting her ...?

One thing that helps save these recent episodes from any comparison to Mr Tolkien is GoT characters obsessing about whether another character “likes” or “doesn’t like” them ... :rolleyes

Greyworm is a dead man and the crypts aren't safe.

Thanks for posting that redux. Snarky, but it helps because I am not so into the deal that I know all the names and such.

almost didn’t make it past the first pun ...
(“auntsy”) ... :rolleyes

just the right mix of reverence/snark ... :thumbup

and god bless Theon, I say ... hope it ends well for him.
