Geezer memories from the 60's and 70's

10 cent Coke out of the machine in a glass bottle
3 cent candy bars
HO2-0420 phone number
I got the Polio shot, well that was the 50's

Orchards all over this valley. Ride my Hodaka Bonanza from Sunnyvale to Stevens Creek Reservoir, mostly thru orchards.
Buck Nord stables…
Bamboo bongs, four finger lids.

Thrifty drug store ice cream scoop was cylindrical

Drug store sandwiches

Walking or riding bicycles in packs ages ranging from about 5 to 16

The “boob tube”

Getting the polio vaccine on a sugar cube in the school auditorium.
I remember in fourth grade when we all (I think the entire school) got inoculated against something.

The interesting part was that there were just lines of students, at the front of which were a doctor (I guess) and a nurse.

The doctor had a "gun". The gun had a pedal, which we would push down once to cock it.

The nurse would rub our arm with an alcohol swab, and the doctor would put it against our arm and pull the trigger. It was some sort of pneumatic thing. I don't even think it had a needle, just a pin sized jet of vaccine.

NEXT!

I have no memory of them wiping down the gun after each application.

I think my polio vaccine was just a salty pink liquid they put on my tongue.

Going to a candy store with 10 cents and spending several minutes picking out the candies.

Walking into a store at 10 years old and buying various fireworks

2 pieces of Bazooka bubble gum for a penny.
Getting your tonsils removed.
Telephone 'party lines'.
Having the same Doctor for your whole childhood.

I was in the checkout line in harbor freight yesterday and saw this little diddy.

Had to pick it up for the youngest to explore...

I was a little disappointed it wasn't a wrist rocket
