Quick question. I have never paid much attention to MotoGP but for some reason I've been drawn to it lately, so I've been watching old races on YT. What are some classic "must watch" races I should see so I can get into the lore a bit deeper as this season kicks off? I went to a few races at Laguna Seca about 10-15 years ago, but that was more just because the opportunity arose and it was a lot to take in and I didn't retain much, or even realize what was going on other than Marc Marquez won (I was at the afterparty and he was going wild).

I like to watch the Laguna Seca races because those are the only ones I've been to, so I've seen the one where Rossi passed in the Corkscrew. But I'm sure there are a ton of epic races and I just want to catch up on my knowledge and appreciation going into this season that's already begun.

Also, what's the best way to watch the races? I have most of the streamers, but which one gives the most? Thanks for helping a MotoGP n00b.

And finally, what other moto race entities should I look at? I'm not super interested in motocross or enduro races at this point, mostly road/track races. Of course there is tons of Isle of Man stuff that I love watching, but are there other race promotions that are exciting to watch? Thanks again

For modern MotoGP, watch the documentary Faster. It’s goes over the early 2000 and the transition from 2 stroke to 4 stroke motors. It includes all of the riders and bikes that molded what you’re watching today. After that there are a bunch of great battles I don’t even know where to begin.

But, watch Faster to kick off this journey.

That is a good call. Faster is a good flick too.

Almost any Assen and any Philip Island are going to be good. The two stroke era of the 80's - 90's is fun.

If you like MotoGP, then you'll probably like WSBK too. Those are the only two series that I watch.

I used to follow Supercross and outdoor Motocross, but have dropped out of that pretty much. I have attended a couple of each of those races. I watched a recent Supercross race with my son over the weekend and there are still two or three riders that I remember from when I followed it.

If you're going to follow a series, you need to watch all of the races and get to know the top riders to keep it interesting. I'm familiar with pretty much all of the MotoGP and WSBK riders and can tell you where to expect most of them to finish in a given race. MotoGP has two races each weekend and WSBK has three in the top class.

2009 Catalunya. Last 3 laps. Simply some of the best and nail biting laps.

2015 Philip Island

2019 Mugello

Thanks! I finally did watch Faster and it was great. I won't be able to watch tomorrow's race, but I'll check out the recommended ones
