Ginger Beer

I was never really taken in by Fever Tree's pulpy masses and high price tag. It tastes nice, but I never thought the pricetag earned it's keep.

I always prefer Bundaberg, and in a pinch, Reed's has a clean finish and a really nice bite.

Good stuff, but the price of some of these is pretty hilarious. They charge 3 times as much as Reeds, and the only difference is it contains more ginger. Ain't like ginger is all that expensive.

It is sold as soda or hard. Like cider.

Hmmm, maybe I have to try some hard. Didn't know that. Probably a little too sweet for my liking though.

Neat.
So we will see ginger beer soda ? :teeth

Yuppers. I plan on having ginger soda on tap most of the time. My landlady likes it, so that's a good reason to have it around. :laughing

The challenge comes in getting amped-up ginger flavor and bite without making it taste medicinal. Not as easy as it might sound.

Yeah but with that fresh ginger there is nothing else like it. Take recent days with smoke in your throat and you let it slide diwn clearing away the day.

Two swigs left as I write this. Truly fresh brewed has to be the hot lick.

Tried Bundaberg, that is some really sweet Ginger Beer, too sweet in taste for me.

I came across Q Spectacular, in Safeway and that is far less sweet, has good spice and a nice bite to it. My choice over Fever -Tree now. Q is also much less than Fever-Tree and Bundaberg. Bundaberg had a great Ginger taste, just too sweet for me.

My once a week thing, Knackwurst, mustard, grey bread, sauerkraut and a Ginger Beer. Can pack it in a side bag, sterno to heat a tall cup of water to warm the frankfurters and watch the waves crash near Pt Reyes. It might get better than that but that works.
