My wrist is finally healed up for the most part after breaking my scaphoid last November after an accident. I'd like to avoid repeating this injury again if possible, so I'm looking for a set of gloves that do a better job protecting the wrist.

Some quick searching shows that the Knox Handroid gloves are highly rated and call out protection for the scaphoid specifically. Anyone have these and like them? My size seems to be out of stock all the places I've checked online. Any other gloves that people can recommend that offer similar protection?

I'm waiting for Knox to get a 2nd pinky bridge. There are a handful of other models discussed at LMGTF "scaphoid gloves reddit": Racer High Racer, RS-Taichi, Scorpion SGS MK II. I'm leaning towards the Racer High Racer because it has the pinky bridge.

Some of the Racer, Rukka, Dainese gloves have em + pinky bridge. Wasn't a fan of the positioning of the slider on the Dainese gloves though. Racer and Rukka are positioned well.

Revzilla CS sent me a list a while back but don't think I saved it.

+1 for the Knox handroids. Have 2 pairs (one has 2 bike totaling crashes and are still good).

Check amazon. Bought my last pair there.

Have a pair of Knox Handroids and Nexos. I haven't crash tested them but as gloves go they're really comfy. I think the Handroids are too bulky for everyday riding though, I only use them for the track. They look freakin rad though!

One thing I do not like about the knox scaphoid protecting sliders is if you use a cramp buster the bikes vibrations are transmitted through the sliders to your hand and it make your hand go numb or hurt after many hours of riding. This is what I have noticed when I go adventure riding on my DR650.

Some of the Racer gloves have the knox scaphoid sliders. Its interesting they use the knox sliders.

I had my scaphoid and triquettral bones flipped over when i hit the road in a wildlife encounter.
The imaging did not reveal this injury since they both ended up in the right place, just flipped over. It required a very complex , grueling surgery to sort out. I am grateful to my doc, a crushing injury specialist for making it all work again.

Some impacts are so intense that you'd need steel boxes, or something like that to prevent injury.
I was wearing Helimot buffalo gloves, and credit them with at least keeping my hands ON my body.
I still wear Helimots, but understand some injuries may not be preventable by gear.

Another big fan of Handroids. I too would like a pinky bridge, but all other features trump that for me.

I am a bit confused. My understanding is that virtually all breaks of the scaphoid are from trying to stop a fall with your palm. I am not sure, without limiting your motion to control the throttle, how much a glove can do for your scaphoid. One should learn to fall on a forearm and roll onto a shoulder, instead of trying to stop the fall with a straight arm.

I don't do stitched pinky because I brake and clutch with middle fingers, like C. Stoner. Unnecessary feature, anyway, if you learn to tuck in your fingers when you crash. See above crash message that coincides with this opinion.

I've had 3 pairs of Knox gloves; recon, and two that I can't think of - one winter weight, one perf for summer. I've been extremely happy with all of them. All have the scaphoid protection, which is why I chose them.

The cable cinching system failed on one set after 2+ years, and either Boa or Knox sent me replacement parts for free.

the padding and sliders at the base of the palm on the HELD PhantomII has worked for me. its even more substantial on the Titans.

but really, u shouldn't be trying to catch your fall with your hands.

Be sure to try on the Handroids. I ordered without trying them on, the fingers are quite a bit thinner than previous gloves. I ended up shoving long sockets down a couple fingers on each hand to loosen them up. Seven years later I won't get on my pavement only bike without them, and super comfortable even over week+ trips.

Nobody really "tries" to do anything but Not Die in some sudden impact collisions.

I had a 300lb buck lunge out of a drainage ditch along side HwyOne in Marin, connecting with my right clip on and compressing the brake lever, all in less than .03 seconds. The bike went end over end and I tumbled for a long way down the road.

I've had a few getoffs at the track and was more or less able to just slide along next to the bike. Scuffs and abraided suit, gloves, and the worst injury ever was a slightly sore hip.

Years ago I was taking an uphill right hander when a cat got caught under my front fender, (sorry Kitty!) and I literally stepped off the like like a ballerina as the bike went down. My buddy was totally impressed by that. , but truthfully it was 100% dumb luck.

It would be nice if we all fell like Nuryev but you never know what you'll get sometimes....:ride

I broke my left scaphoid last year, some dip shit in a Jeep did a illegal u turn in front of me... anyways, got a screw put in about a week later, riding 2 months after that, completely felt better 6mo later.

Post accident I had some compensation $$$ ;) so I bought some nice gear, took my new Dainese 4 Stroke Longs to my surgeon during a checkup, he was pretty impressed and said that if I had them on I might have not broken my scaphoid.
