I've got a friend joining the military and her basic training is in a few weeks. I want to get her something since she won't be here for Christmas, but I want it to be related (or useful) to her basic training as well. Any ideas?

(She is hawt, and she's only a friend)

Find out what sort of boots she will be wearing at basic, and if she can bring her own (copies of that same boot) ASAP. If yes, buy her those boots and tell her to wear them EVERYWHERE until she goes. Her feet will thank you.

You don't get to keep much when you hit basic. They take all your personal belongings and lock them away until you're done.

Consider a phone card. It's pretty easy for her to hold onto and when you're separated from your family and friends you tend to go kind of nuts and desperate to call them. When I was there we only got to spend a few dollars on a phone card at the PX, and some guys weren't even able to get one.

Truth.

Although a nice toiletry kit will work. You have to buy your own razors, shampoos, and soaps, unless you want to use the hard lava crap they supply, that others sweep through their cracks. :green

Oh yeah . . . is she a friend with benefits? :drool

pics, please

Thanks for the ideas. I'm not sure where she's going; wherever the Air Force sends females right now. I know she'll be going to Texas for technical school after basic.

And the BARF code states that once it has been determined that she is hawt, pics can never be posted. It would ruin the fantasy :laughing

socks, nice cushie, fluffy white socks, you know like real nice hiking socks.

Dont send anything, she wont need it, they will issue her everything she needs, instead wait untill she Graduates boot Camp and get her something special afterwords. Like being there during the ceremony :thumbup

She's going to San Antonio, TX for basic training.

P.S. Did you at least PIIDB?

They're going to take pretty much everything and ship it home.

Better off giving her 18" of your hot love (if she has that sort of friend), or just spending time with her hanging out (if not.)

Sex 6 times in a row sounds challenging! :toothless

...Consider a phone card...
I heard a vicious rumor that they are letting trainees have cell phones. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Tell her to pack light, when she gets there the first thing she will be doing is picking up the bags, and putting them down, then picking them back up and down again.... until she can't feel the arms. All she has to do is remember it's just a head game and she'll make it just fine.

That was the best advice I got when I went. Course that was back in 1988. :(

Phonecard and a fuckton of Stamps/Envelopes.

Writing random things definitely helped burn a lot of time. :laughing

Lackland here she goes....:p

and +1 to whoever said phonecards and stamps/envelopes...my buddy who went to the Marines wrote to me a few times and that was one of the few times he gets to talk to folks back home

oh im sorry i jsut read teh Air Force part....um, yeah I dunno, send lip gloss? :dunno

:rofl Air Force basic...ummm, volleyball kneepads and a ball for their PT? :p

Depends on your drill instructor. One platoon might get 2 hours of cell phone time on Sundays, another platoon might lock them away for the whole 9 weeks.
