Golden State Warriors 2017-2018

Can't some of you guys just be happy with the win, do ya have to dance on the grave as well? :laughing

I'm happy, but I still recall this... so grave dancing is permitted. lol

They aren't gonna have the podium thing this year but yes it would be funny. In black.

As for dancing on the grave: I came SO close to actually appreciating and respecting LeBron this year and he pulled that stunt to get all the attention. Just from an airwaves aspect: we are watching all the champagne, cigars, well-wishing on the post-game, then suddenly, NEWS FLASH LEBRON WAS PLAYING WITH BROKEN HAND THE WHOOOOOOOLE TIME followed by the news conference in which he himself draws attention to his cast.

He's still a great athlete, an unusual combo of talents, but the narcissism is just too much. My team of choice shows a different way to be a mega-star. LeBron brings back the METOO in METOO.

You know he wasn't originally going to wear that cast or talk about it, right?

A reporter/press person somehow found out about the injury, and started distributing the information right after the end of the game. Lebron said fuck it, and put it in the soft cast he had been wearing for days at that point, and addressed it at the press conference in order to head off the social media rumor mill.

This fucker pushed out the article immediately after the game ended.. Something like 9 minutes after GSW won.

That whole bold faced part of what you wrote is just... Dude, come on. You dreamed up some narrative about him, and then convinced yourself it was true, and then used it to justify your argument. The article was published in the minutes following the game, and Lebron would have been hammered with those questions during the press conference whether he wanted them or not. He didn't want that information out. What are your options at that point?

A guy could build a video collage of every handshake, every shot, every use of James' in action Games 2 thru 4. Too much work for me.

Hahahaha.
"According to a person with knowledge of the situation, James — who was briefed on the latest media reports shortly before coming to the podium — would not have worn the cast if his injury had not already been reported. His teammates and coaches knew what had happened, and it’s a wonder how it didn’t come out sooner. It’s also unclear if James or his associates would have shared the news at a later time, but there were no plans to pull the curtain back that night. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation."

Who is spinning a narrative again? It's a "wonder." Geezus.I guess all those reporters hanging around desperate for an angle are blind AND dumb. And I love Casper, the anonymous source. Try and pretend it's the White House for a minute and see if this passes a sniff test.

But the thought of that darn LeBron wearing the cast to prevent cognitive dissonance for the sportswriters. How noble. That sounds just like him, ever compliant. Gawd, what are we being fed here?

An objective reader might take issue with the veracity of this story. But neither you or I are objective so call it a toss-up.:laughing

Are you asserting Lebron orchestrated the entire thing?

Are you asserting Lebron orchestrated the entire thing?

I hate answering a question with a question but....

Do you not think he's capable of that? Being the brand and global icon he is, I feel he's certainly capable. It makes him look less culpable for losing in a sweep AND he probably feels better mentally. Let's not forget when he and Nike were able to seize the video of him getting dunked in during the summer years ago so it wouldn't get public. It's also why he never did the dunk contest. He didn't want to lose and hurt his brand.

Lebron and his handlers are very calculated. Every decision and move is well thought out.

:facepalm

You guys win, and a bunch of the next posts are still about Lebron... and now we've jumped the shark, and it has gone full tin foil conspiracy....

Come on..... Really.

I just keep going back to the play where he bounced it off the backboard and then jammed it in the basket....

Hard to buy the busted hand story, but, I'm sure he's an honorable man and not using an excuse to diminish a foe utterly kicking HIS team's ass in some sort of mental mind game. :laughing

When you realize endorsements are star athletes, not just Lebrons, primary source of income this makes even more sense.

Not lebron himself, but his management team. Lebron is a very calculated and precise public speaker. He obviously practices his press responses, stays on message and delivers single line soundbytes. His line about playing the whole series with "basically a broken hand" is just one. There was another one after game one, that he repeated over and over but I can't think of it at the moment. I'll look it up.

He is smart enough to understand the need to capitalize on his career and his management team is motivated enough to keep whispering in his ear to direct him in ways advantageous to all. I do think he is either a megalomaniac or has been conditioned to be one since high school by the social messaging he has received.

So no, he didn't orchestrate the whole thing. But it sure grabbed the moment away from the Dubs. I mean, I don't care that much because I think the more cynical types saw right through it. You watched a guy play three full basketball games with much force and hand use but now, he was a wounded man. Let's see all the TMZ snapshots of him with his cast. i'm sure he'll wear it at least until the honors tv show.

If your hand was damaged that you needed a cast, one would think a career-ending second injury would scare a person out of using said hand
Or wear some kind of device, as some players have on the court.

Here's a trip down memory lane: https://www.quora.com/Did-LeBron-Ja...en-seconds-of-game-7-or-was-he-being-dramatic

Wasn't the guy who reported the injury first the same guy who's known LeBron for years and has been covering him since high school? Brian Windhorst?

LeBron orchestrated the entire sham.

LeBron doesn't need excuses for anything, the guy averaged 34 / 9 / 9 in the finals against arguably the best defense in the league. Not really sure why he'd lie about his hand

I spent some time trying to figure this out last night. I read a bunch of stuff about LeBron and his health issues.

My considered opinion is that LeBron hurt his hand very early in his career and has long-term issues with swelling in that hand on occasion. It may be something that cannot really be fixed but is a bit vulnerable at times. I found at least four times in his career that the same hand has been an issue.

For all I know, he irritated it during one of his mighty dunks during this series. The whiteboard bit didn't add up because of his post-game 1 pix.

LeBron orchestrated the entire sham.

I heard Brian, and a couple other reporters, were privy to the info but kept it under wraps. I wonder how this lands with the gambling mucky mucks as the NBA wants to impose an "integrity fee" that ensures betters they are betting on an honest/fair product.

As the originator of this thread, for a while now I've been hovering my mouse pointer over the Report Post button to have the moderators shut it down. I will do that today after we have a chance to post pictures of the Warriors championship parade in Oakland. :party

This is the Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 basketball thread, not the LeBron James free agency thread, not the Cavaliers are so fucked thread, not the Warriors summer acquisitions thread, not the Chase center is for rich folks thread.

As somebody who has followed the Ws since the days of John Lucas, I am grateful for another season of excellent basketball and I hope they can continue playing at this high level.

Amen twoStroke. Even tho I participated in side-discussion, it was mostly engaging our harshest Dubs critic here but I guess it was not necessarily pertinent.

I will say though, that, after a while, you are going to end up with other topics because it can't be wall to wall Warriors-are-great, Warriors-are-great, etc etc.

It's been a challenging year to watch the team not always perform up to level, yet knowing deep down they possessed the talent to win every game.

I don't understand why West kinda cracked but it probably had to do with champagne. I feel that whatever tension went down in the clubhouse was because of those silly regular season losses to so-so teams. I don't think Draymond could handle that without comment. Or there were just a bunch of personal issues due to life changes that fame and fortune bring.

I have loved the brilliant team ball and still do. Can't go to parade, but I'll be onhand with whatever feed necessary.

Thanks for thread. Looking forward to next years. Dub summer baby!!!!! Hope my favorite millionaires have a great time.
