Does anyone out there know if there's a good mini breathalizer that's even somewhat accurate? It's nice to have as a gauge of how close you are to sober. I'm always so paranoid about DUI.. Normally I just wait about 45 minutes per drink i've had then drive. If I feel buzzed at all I won't drive even if I've waited a while.

I've got a fc10. I used to work for breathalizer.net/ They offer decent units but stay away from the units they make. Use the alcohawk stuff. Very accurate.

Very cool website. Thanks. You think the cheap $50 alchohawk one is good enough? I'd probably be using it once a week at most. If it shows me .05 or higher i wouldn't drive.

Because I have a CDL, the limit amounts to smelling two beer caps, so got to a point where if there is drinking, find another way around. Its just not worth guessing all the factors while trying to enjoy a night out.

My alcohol recycle/recovery factor slowed down as I got older so I knew I would chance the drive home just this once... and ultimately lose, so set up a ride first.

I saw one at Bevmo for about $50. I don't recall the brand but was thinking of picking one up.

Sure you could tote a breathalyzer everywhere, but its better to just rely on a little common sense (know when you are drunk, and vice versa) and refuse to take the PAS (which always involves a small breathalyzer) if you ever get pulled over, the cop wants to check sobriety, and you are worried that you might be close to the limit. By refusing to take the PAS and opting for blood test, it is virtually guaranteed that if you are reasonably close to the limit, you will be well below it by the time your BAC is measured at the station.

How about don't drink and drive? Fucking crazy idea, right there.

But it is my god given right granted by baby jesus himself to do what I want, when I want, no matter how many people I put at risk or kill. If I wanna put down a fifth, drive to a local park and try and score some meth I will. If I happen to almost kill two people while running scared after hitting on a chick at the park, i am protected by the constitution or something. Hell, if I get religion in the hospital, I might only have to do 9 months of my five year sentence. Sure I have to pay those guys back, but I owe them so much money, I will die of old age before they get a tenth of their money. America rules.

Not that I am bitter or anything.

What the hell are you guys ranting about now? :laughing

It wasn't a rant, it was a parody +1. I leave the ranting to Lewis Black and the guy from 12 monkeys that oddly enough use similar hand jestures.

Worst advice ever given on barf. Ever. Please educate yourself before offering advice dude...

A blood test is virtually impossible to dispute and often reads a higher alcohol level than a breath test.

Furthermore your BAC actually goes up for an hour or more after your last drink, meaning that there's a great chance that your bac will be higher should you bullshit with the cops and waste time.

I am experienced with breathalyzers, a lot, I can tell you that most of the time that I was .08-.10 I didn't feel like I was under the influence. Keep that in mind.

If you refuse a breath/blood test, your liscense will be suspended for a year anyway. Regardless of you being drunk or not.

If I'm wrong on any of this please correct me.

OP, I'd spend about 100$ to get a relaible unit. Follow all directions and send it in for scheduled calibrations. If you don't do these things don't waste your money.

Remember that you can still get a DUI/wet and wreckless even if your under .08. So the best policy is not to drink and drive period.
