Google Racing

I once saw Larry and Serge doing 65 mph laps around thill in rented spec miatas during a lunch break at a trackday.

They had a whole crew of nerds there wearing blue jumpsuits.

Yep, self racing car.

It also has a sophicated onboard diagnostic and repair system so it doesn't require any mechanics at pit except tire changers.

It will create a lot of new systems for racing and driving in general that we never considered, like gas stations that fuel our cars without us having to get out, and in a very distant future things like alternators that can be rewound while driving with a team of micro-robots that live within the vehicle itself.

It is truly the dawning of a new age.

A "self racing" car is not racing. It's just programming. Unless your idea of racing is watching robots circulate. The idea of a "self racing car" in any motor sport is kinda disgusting, actually. But the skinny ass butt heads at Google probably think it is a revolution.

A gas station that fuels a care without getting out? Wow, like people get enough exercise now.

I hear they are also working on bicycles that you don't have to pedal, doubt it will take off though for the reasons you articulated above :)

You are quite correct, I'm most certainly not a racer in any sense. I am too old and too scared to ever be fast, or even medium on a motorcycle.

I do however participate in some races to become a better rider, hang with my friends, support the local clubs and try to be a positive influence on dirtbiking. :party
