"Insignificant Other"
By the way, somewhat off topic, has anyone else noticed that the City of Santa Clara is quickly becoming the most popular city in the Bay Area for new data centers? It seems like a new one is popping up ever month. We think that it's related to the fact that the Santa Clara generates its own electricity, and the rates are significantly cheaper than what PG&E charges. Heck, Santa Clara even owns its own hydro electric plant up in the Sierras.
I have a couple buddies that work for the electrical department in the city, and they tell me that when the snow melt is strong, the hydro plant has more than enough capacity to generate all the city's electrical needs. And, every day that the hydro plant runs strong, the city pockets about $150K because they sell off the oil that they would have used generating electricity at their local plant.
