gremlin bells???

In this immediate instance, yes.

But I specifically called out faith in general which includes but is in no way limited to road gremlins. Riding is dangerous and a belief in a higher power protecting you (on top of training, practice, well-maintained equipment yadda yadda yadda) has to be comforting.
I'm aware that my reflexes and skills are what will help me avoid an accident with a very real car...but man oh man to have that PLUS a magic shield? gtfo that'd rock and you know it. :x

Yeah, I guess it depends on your subscription?

Like, if you want to be a Christian or Muslim, you have a whole Satan problem to manage, you know?

I do get what you are saying about being able to take stuff on Blind Faith. Like I can understand the appeal of it, because I think people who buy that sort of deal are also able to be content with the part they like and not think the rest through, you know?

For someone like me, who not only always questions, but is also never content to accept something at face value until he was looked at all the angles, like it just isn't possible for me with most systems of belief.

I used to drive the wife crazy when heading out for a ride saying, "it's literally impossible for me to get hurt today".

I am always down to accept others beliefs. I do in fact believe in some of those things. The mental side of things are amazing and continuing to be brought forward. The brain is amazing.

For instance this dude. Wim Hof is in control of his mind and has been doing things for a while that seem to defy science. Then science figures it out after many had to have faith that he has some special gift. He held his breath for 22 fricking minutes! He also healed his own foot from frost bite that Doctors said was permanent. It took 1.5 months but he did it. Someone finally scienced it, but it was there far before as are many other incredible things.

Don't get me started on aliens. :laughing

Not sure if the bell means that a rider has their very own special spirit entity that protects only them; or if the bell grants you entry into the "Protected By Special Spirit Entity" club and there's a group of spirits that are in charge of rider safety...

I always thought the bell just repelled the gremlins like bug repellent and was not due to any kind of entity.

I like to think of myself as NOT superstitious, but I always put my left glove on first and if I put my right one on first I take it off and put the left one on first. So while I won't go looking for a gremlin bell I have to admit to a certain amount of unfounded belief in "spirits".

Yes, that's the proper way :thumbup

Right boot first. Right glove first. In terms of riding that is about it.

I will pray for you :party

I hang out with a bunch of Harley riders and none of their bikes has bells.
Stereos-yes, bell no.

Nice. :Port

Harley Riders aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight in my book. :ride

I have a bell on my bike given to me by my wonderful daughter. It must be working for me because I have never had trouble with road gremlins, never crashed and only 1 speeding ticket.

I read this as "gremlin balls" and went looking up "gremlin truck nuts". Apparently there are green, glowing truck nuts for sale. Then I read through the thread...

When I bought the Fisker a year or so ago, the owner called me and told me "I forgot to tell you: there's these weird rocks in the door pockets. You can take them out, but the guy I bought it from's wife blessed the car and did some seance and put those in. I'm not religious or anything, but I wasn't brave enough to take them out". Neither am I. the things are still there. We both agreed: a car with limited parts, out of production and two guys that can work on them well in the country...We need those Wiccan rocks left in there.

I'm aware that my reflexes and skills are what will help me avoid an accident with a very real car...but man oh man to have that PLUS a magic shield? gtfo that'd rock and you know it. :x

You got the general idea. Superstition from watching others get it when it's all just dumb luck, in how they got hurt and you didn't get caught up. It doesn't work...and yet, most racers have nutty routines.

mine too. Get on the back at times and I miss riding....

This sounds spicy as all hell!

Except for the douchebags who feel like everyone in a five block radius needs to listen to their shitty music over their obnoxiously loud exhaust :nchantr

while i don't buy into them, i'm aware of the belief surrounding the bells....i forget where i picked up those tidbits of knowledge, though.

certainly won't rain on anyone else's parade about it.

I zip tied a spare ignition key to my bike in a hidden spot. Haven't misplaced the primary key since.

That's called making your own luck.

:laughing

I'm smart enough to stash a spare house key, and stupid enough to need it now and again.

I have seen stuff too. Buddhist Monks etc. They use them for mental meditation and therapy too. Sound is a real thing.

Black Sabbath proved it to me in 1974. :p
