HadesOmega Rides LA Barstow to Vegas 2016 Ride Report

I gotta hand it to Merlin, I love reading & watching your ride reports! Between you, WoodsChick and SFMCjohn I feel like I'm actually there, great job :thumbup
 
Thanks for reading and watching guys. It's fun to relive the memories kinda. I will make separate reports for them later but look forward to these rides I did after LAB2V to get home:

I was just rereading your LA2BV ride report. Like all your reports, it is great. I need to ride this event. Maybe it will happen this year.
 
Thanks for resurrecting this ride report Tom I forgot to post my event pictures. Here's some pictures that were taken both days. They were super expensive but I rarely get photos taken of me riding and its a great souvenir. I wound up buying prints and scanning it on a scanner to save money.

Yes the fluid needed to be changed. The DR's stock shock has a design where the nitrogen will leak into the shock fluid and it becomes contaminated. I also found out I need more preload, that's why the bike felt lower than usual. I don't know how that happened I guess the collar rotated on its own after so long.

When I went back to baja I had Cogent Dynamics rebuild the shock and revalve it for a little heavier bike. I got it back and properly set the sag and I ripped Baja with it. I have a Mojave Pro now though and its so much better than the stock one. I'd like to pit it against LAB2V some time not this year though. I'll probably gear my bike down also that should help. It may have just been the preload was the problem or the fluid, or both. But doesn't matter now I have Excalibur now!

But... I will admit LAB2V was TOUGH and probably more than the DR could handle. Those sand whoops kicked our ass. But after LAB2v I rode route 66 back fully loaded and rode in the Anza Borrego desert near San Diego and it did ok. So those trails are no joke.

If anyone wants a Cogent Rebuilt Revalved DR650 shock let me know still for sale ;)
