Anyone know of a generic/universal (for a ex500) hand guard set-up they would recommend? I'm just looking for some winter time wind blockage. I ordered some heated grips, but want to stop some of the wind also.

I think some guys used/adapted the hand guards from a Suzuki dual sport to their bikes. Might work.

This may also help with the wind:

For an EX500?

Just get gloves. They come in handy for all cold weather stuff and they won't look dorky on your bike :twofinger

Who care how dorky handguards look. I thought they were dumb as hell too.

Until I rode a bike with some. I'll be enjoying my guards & heated grips while you "cool kids" are suffering from frost-bitten digits come the cold weather.

Any recommendation for a Fireblade? I'd love to have handguards in the winter, but it seems all of them would hit/interfere with the bodywork.

Thanks.

I like the Cycra hand guards the best. They stay out of the way of the levers a little better than Barkbusters (at least the older ones). You're also unlikely to ever break a lever if the bike tips over or bumps into anything (mirrors?). :cool

I use these Acerbis dual roads. Can't decide if they make the bike more brutal in a fugly way or in an awesome way. They keep the wind off though, and I get merged into a little less in evening traffic.

I've been looking at those for my F650... Currently have the Acerbis which are burly but do very little to ward off wind. I'd like something will block more air - the Cycras look pretty awesome but I've wondered if the pretty flat shape blocks wind as well as the curvier ones like Barkbuster Storms (which I also happen to have a set of, were on my R1200R for a while) or the other ones that are more like little tiny fairings. Are they really as flat as they look? Keep your mitts toasty in the winter?
