So the three gloves are the Knox handroid, held phantom 2 and the a* gp tech glove. I like different things about all three ranging from price point to protection. Im looking for a good all around glove. It needs to be able to track, go for long rides in the cold and warm, get wet, fit correctly, and most importantly no hand surgeries.

Anyone have personal experience or anything to comment on? I was also considering helimot gloves. I need to make a decision by the end of the day cause my old ones are wrecked as of now.

all 3 of those fit wildly different, so fit should probably be the deciding factor for u.

my recent experience with the HELDs is a highside last Nov at Buttonwillow. i slammed my hand onto the ground and broke the metacarpal of my pinky finger below the knuckle, a boxers fracture. the impact just missed the main knuckle protector on the glove, but thatd probably be a problem with all gloves as most dont have protection on the side. the gloves have a few scrapes but no tears, holes, or busted seams.

skip the gp techs. I've had one pair and my brother has had a pair. Both pairs fell apart. I would go with something else.

Thanks guys. Gp tech is out due to them falling apart...and I'm thinking Knox is out too. Some guy was on the forums talking about how the armour in the handroid lacerated his finger.

Now which Held's to buy? Kind of want to just spend the money and get the Titan Evo's. I don't suppose anyone here has a pair and could share a little bit?

Stang, after your high side or at any point have you had an issue with the seams on the thumb? I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews stating the seams bust open on the thumb.

no issues. the right thumb is a little scuffed on the top but none of the leather is even torn.

i try to make a fist when i crash so ive never had my thumbs scrape too bad. my PhantomI's survived like 8 crashes w/ no real seam issues.

Don't believe everything you read on the Internet. My current gloves are Alpinestars GP Pro gloves. They're 10 or 12 years old. Some of the graphics are a bit faded, but other than that they're in great shape. They're not a cold weather or rain glove though; I have different gloves for that.

Edit: I switched to Alpinestars after the stitching on two separate pairs of Held gloves fell apart. Went to Teknic Violators, where I wore through the plan leather just from twisting the throttle for 4 months, and finally landed on Alpinestars.

Had all three and here is my personal experience:

A* GP Tech does fall apart after awhile. Had them for about a year before the seams started to break loose at the finger after regular wear. Love the style of them though.

Handriod were the most comfy gloves I have ever worn. The external skeleton thing seems like a gimmick but I guess they would slide better in a crash. The fingers are skinner than the other two and fits more like a pair of bicycle gloves than motorcycle. The BOA system is sort of bulky is very easy to take on and off.

Held Phantom 1 is my current glove. Not much has changed with the Phantom 2 EXCEPT the knuckle cover and sliders (1 has stingray I believe). Out of the 3, I feel these are the most protective. Great no frills protection in the right place. Quality craftsmanship but expensive. The fingers are sort of bulky... making you feel like their are space suit gloves (I have the white and black colorway). I took a tumble at T2 in Laguna last year and these things held up great. Minor rub burns but no broken seams.

All three of these gloves are consider race specs, venting is great but that also means on cold days they aren't as warm. Although the Held has a visor wiper, I would not consider any of these as rain gloves either. You'll need goretex or similar material for that.

If I had to rank them.. #1 Held, Handriod and A*.

the gloves u bought 10yrs ago have almost nothing to do w/ a different model made today.

fit changed a little. the fingers of the P2 are shorter. i like the new fit better.

I also have Handroid, agree with skinny finger assessment, I think they've kind of loosened up a bit with use (and sweat) but initially I could barely get the glove on.

I've read the case about the armor laceration, but seems to be an isolated case. I have never crash tested this or another pair of Knox gloves I have (knock on wood), but the product quality feels very high in/on your hands.

Phantom ll ordered and on the way! Thanks for all the help guys...I will be sure to do a review of these guys in a few thousand miles

I own 2 pairs of helds, the 1st set has seen better days, at least 3 track incidents 2 lowslides and 1 highside.

No seams broke - these were the phantom, curious why you didnt try helimot

Imma try them after my 2nd phantoms wear out.....

I chose not to go with helimot because I was turned toward held by a good friend. And if this pair of Held's works out I'm going to splurge and get custom Titan evos. Custom measurements I mean.

However if I am not happy with these im going to helimot immidiately.

Shame... A very good friend would have turned you toward Helimot :) Same pair of Buffalo 365s now for me since 2008, and they're still rock solid.
