Have you noticed most Zoomers don’t say “You’re welcome”?

My Dad a Korean war vet and Mom a strict but loving German. Same deal.

Dinners with friends were very strict as a lad, manners, honor and respect towards elders always were strongly reinforced. Work hard, be benevolent towards all people and love for our country were top values as well.

Both grew up poor and worked hard to be successful. When I was a lad they still were very much up and coming in terms of having any money, but as I got to my teens were doing well.

I think that affected my younger siblings in both good and bad ways. More opportunites, but spoiled and the work ethic was not instilled. My Mom had me earning nickles for yardwork at 6 and quarters when twelve to feed gas to my mini bike. If I wanted to ride I had to earn it.

I had really good parents and will share a beer with Pops today at 3:30PM like most Sundays.

At age 11, my sister and I washed dishes after dinner for 6 months to earn 1 bicycle that we had to share.

Love your Sunday tradition.

No it isn't. Not in my world. I shook hands all along, fuck that elbow bump shit..

Still a mix for me. Knuckles more the norm with younger folks, but handshaking with the more mature. I am fine with whatever works for the person I am greeting.

Wait, its not- "Your welcome"? (Couldn't resist)

Are you questioning his ownership of "welcome". You presume that it's a contraction. Perhaps we should all be thankful for the illumination of this personal issue and welcome the discussion as presented.
:x

Edit: Forgot the quote. Ha.

Shaking hands during covid is for pussys. Try rubbing noses next time.

summed up nicely here. I am a "no problem" person.. because it's no problem. imagine being a boomer and crying about this. "snowflake"

Shouldn't that be "Damn straight!"?

I’m a hand shaker unless the other person is not. A big wet kiss though with a slap on the ass is becoming my new norm!:kiss:kiss

I’m in heavy construction. We never stopped shaking hands like men.

MAN, I wish I was as manly as you with your construction job - specifically HEAVY construction, not that light shit - while shaking hands like a MAN during a global pandemic.

Lots of CATs and JDs. Fun project. Under budget and 2 weeks to go!

For this okay Boomer, the situation that most annoys me is when waitstaff says “no problem.” Because it implies that I was going to be a problem.

This used to bother me, then, a coworker who is about 20 years my junior and I had some static about it... we did some research and engaged in conversation and what I learned was "you're welcome" to ME is a polite way to acknowledge someone for doing something. This coworker explained, "you're welcome" will typically be seen as a sarcastic response indicating a resentment.

This blew my mind, especially when combined with "no problem", which means to me "shit, I didn't really want to help you, but I'll let that slide" to the younger set means "no thank you was required, I don't feel imposed upon, and we're good"

*mind officially blown*
