hayward area ride

Want to start a group ride from Hayward? The group that does the Dublin/Pleasanton meets at a specific place & time, do you guys want to do the same?? I'd be up for sweeping the group, got the gear for that. Lemme know, k?

i'm down for a ride. lets do it this coming saturday or sunday. the only problem is that i don't know any routes in hayward area so someone will have to lead it :p.

yeah Im down for next saturday ride. Heard that weekend is perfect for a ride...Hot and dry..lets set up a meet place and time

After noon on Sat will be cool for me. Meet where & when, route will be? I'm familiar with Palomares, Niles Canyon, & Calaveras, and Mines if anybody's feeling REALLY adventurous!

It's all about logistics, folks... :laughing

From Hayward, can ride up behind Cal State into the hills, take that to Castro Valley, to Palomares, out to Sunol, then Calaveras to Milpitas.

Or, go the other way in CV, up Redwood to the back hills, and there's lots of places to go back there.

And, of course, the ride back.

that sounds like a nice ride for saturday. anyone know the route and want to lead?

For a possible meeting place, University Plaza just behind Cal State. From Mission, take Carlos Bee Blvd (which becomes Hayward Ave) and its on the conner of Hayward and Civic ave. Good places to eat, mini mart, coffey shop, big parking lot.

great place to meet

I've been off this thread for a couple of days, but is this actually going to happen? A Hayward Area meeting or ride? If so what day and time? This all sounds great, and a great meeting place, I'm very familiar with Bronco Billy's and that coffee place and it's a spacious parking lot which can than lead us up to the Hayward Hills and than anywhere from there

hayward ride

Thats sounds good. Name the time, I know the place. Hope you guys don't mind riding with a rookie:)

lets do a ride this saturday. meet somewhere in the University Plaza at noon. i don't know the place so i can't give a suggestion.

University Plaza

Easiest way to get to University plaza for most people is taking 880 and getting off on Jackson. Than you take Jackson East towards the hill. From Jackson you'll turn right onto Mission Boulevard. From Mission you turn left onto Carlos Bee Boulevard (for sake of a landmark, when you are turning left onto Carlos Bee Hayward Honda will be on your right). Keep going up the hill past the entrance to Cal State Hayward and Carlos Bee will automatically turn into Hayward Boulevard. University Plaza is about half a mile past Cal State Hayward's Entrance. It will be on your right hand side. Like Big Matt said their is ample parking! Some indentifiers you are in the right parking lot are Bonfaire, Bronco Billy's, China Best, and Subway. This is actually a good place to meet because from here you go further up onto Hayward Boulevard and there is some mild windies. Than it can lead to anywhere as far riding is concerned! What would be a good time for everybody to meet up?

anywhere between 10:00 - 12:00 meet time is good for me. i might be late cause i'm bad with directions.

Sounds cool. How about we make it noon time so some of us (especially me since I work until 5 am) can sleep in? :teeth As far as which roads to take, redwood road is a nice ride...minus the gravelly spots which are near the center of the road by the double yellow, a place where you and your bike shouldn't be anyways. We can hop on pinehurst, another fun road, after we get to skyline by oakland. From there hop on 13 to 580e (or head back the other way through redwood then 580e) and exit palomares road, a more narrow, but equally twisty run. Just a tentative plan since there doesn't seem to be one at the moment. Feel free to add/subtract from it.

11 am

How about we make it 11 am as a final time on Saturday May 15th at University Plaza behind Cal State Hayward! Who is all in?

i'm down for 11 am, but i think mac147 wants to start at 12 pm so he can sleep in. both works for me.

hey u guys care for another newbie?
i've never been on a group ride through the canyons before and would love to try it out!

Cool looks like this is actually going to happen, I'm good for noon. There are some other newbies coming too (me included).

If you havent been up here before, watch your speed on Hayward blvd by the university the cops have a field day on the weekends, they sit in the condos across from the campus and are hard to see. For no good reason the speedlimit is only 30mph.

count me in..this saturday at 11am at Cal state..im a rookie also..but i have ride in groups before.

What's up. Just went through redwood, skyline and pinehurst earlier this afternoon. Good run overall, but pinehurst may be too much if we got some rookies coming along (twisty and very narrow especially the first graded hairpin). In any case, picked up a nail on my rear tire after the run, but hopefully I can get it replaced before this saturday.

hayward ride

I'm in I'll be there @ 1130 no later than 12, depending on if I work the night before.:teeth
