Head On Fatality on 35.....

The problem isn't that they don't wear gear, it is that such behavior is usually indictative of other problems. Like mentality. Or sanity ;)

On the same note, how do you know that the rider did something stupid just becaue of what they were NOT wearing? I think we are all guilty of not having the appropriate gear when we had a motorcycle one time of our lives.

And after coming upon the scene after the crash, I understand that a car traveling the same direction pulled out into the road in front of the rider who was traveling about 65mph and tried to swerve which resulted in the collision with the oncoming vehicle.

Unfortunately, the rider may be beyond help judging of the sustained injuries to his torso and head/neck area. His gal pal had also sustained obvious traumatic injuries as well as internally and was slipping in/out of conciousness and only physical trait was her going into convulsions.

So of you sounding "harsh", I disagree. You do sound like an asshole who should reflect upon your own riding history and remember your enthusiasm, your mistakes, and your luck of avoiding injuries or even worse. In short, rmember you are just lucky that you are here today and get off any horse you think youre on.

Not wearing proper gear is stupid. Plain and simple. Yeah it's safe to say we have all not worn proper gear at some time (which was stupid). Weather they were cut off or the accident was their fault, proper gear would have increased their chances of survival. Wei was simply pointing that out as an example to others. There have been quite a bit of accidents recently. He is just trying to protect us. Lets lean from other mistakes. Let's NOT call each other assholes! To do so would be an "asshole" thing to do. We all family here, no flame wars please.

Once I went riding without socks. I had no clean laundry so I just went without socks. This adversely affected my ability to use my foot controls. It was dangerous and I admit it. Someone please call me an asshole now.

Heard about it...very sad..:rose

Hope they are alive to enjoy life again..

Prayers again..:cry

HAHAHAHAHA.... That was very stupid of you and you should be smacked on the pee pee. for being such a dumbhead.

just chill out

damn, if i've known this thread was going to become a flame post, i would of never posted it.
i don't know if he was doing a 100mph or riding stupid cuz i wasn't there to see what really happened and from the sounds of it, noone here was either and i'm not gonna judge him because he didn't have gear on
all i give a damn about is a fellow rider is down and unfortunately so was his passenger, period
perhaps as BARFers, if you do see a newbie or another BARF not wearing gear, pull him/her to the side and advise them to do so.
use this tragedy incident to perhaps save another's life.
period

That is the way to think!!!

Agreed!

No, it won't always save your life, but then again, nothing will. It will give you a better chance of surviving and reducing your injuries. To be so confident to say "I won't go down" is also stupid. It's just best to be prepared. For those who don't want to wear it, don't. It is your choice..

Well...

Regardless...proper gear or not...a 100mph collision pretty much will take anything out whether your wearing proper gear or not. For passengers...even worse since your perched a bit higher anyway and you will be affected the most (well in most cases I've seen).

Lets just hope these two people recover...

Phil

I think it's safe to say that BARF (and it's members) advocate the use of protective gear when riding regardless of distance or speed traveled. Whether one uses gear is entirely a personal decision but as with all decisions there are consequences.

Ride Safe!

Please learn to read because I said IF that person was stupid enough to do what JJ said in the story. As for calling me an asshole, you should refrain from saying that to people. I will get off the high horse as soon as you let me borrow yours. Check your PM also.

i hope the two riders are doing fine. any news on their status??

wei7 was only saying what he said (which i felt was not a high horse way of saying it) to inform the rest of us the dangers of riding w/o gear, no matter what the circumstance. everyone learns from other peoples mistakes, unless they choose not to.

so chill out everyone and stop bastardizin the thread.

i wish them well.

i hope this is a friendly invite to have coffee or ride together. otherwise u will be amongst the elite barf booted list. no one is going to tolerate threats.

i do hope u know how to resolve this without violence. you gotta pick ur fights, and one over a misread post is very assholian.

Any moto death is a tragedy regardless of circumstances.

At the risk of being cold hearted a practical note: Expect a full court press of law enforcement activity (airplanes again?) up on the hill the next few weeks.

that, to me, sounds like fighting talk - but disguised cos the poster has no balls

and ya know what, it just aint worth it. We all have enough problems with this bike thing and life in general without turning on one another.

But, if you wanna fight......bring it on dude

Man! Flashbacks of grade school!! :laughing :laughing :laughing

really though, without a ;) or a :p or an invite to go :gmonie, you have to interpret the above as an unfriendly comment. If that be the case, then you need to chill...

...and Duckie...Reread your initial reactionary post to wei7, it was pretty damn out of line. There's no point to stirring the sh!t man.

peace,
