i had to go with a semicustom helimot f108s (H20's summer brother) because no regular glove fits me (size small palm, size small finger diameter, size extra large finger length).

i love helimot but if other brands fit me better, i wouldnt hesitate to go with them, as long as i had kangaroo leather - gives me a better feeling of the grips.

At first the f108's felt bulky in the lower palms, but that extra padding was somewhat welcoming later on *shrug*

in the end, both hard and soft impact armor for either of the gloves will protect you, in my opinion, just the same. I have not read any negatives about both.

if you need a semi custom fit, helimot is the way to go. if not, then damn... i wish i had more options

i noticed the revits had narrow and longer fingers - i might try them again. I have the Racer MultiTops and they fit baggy on my hand - so did the high-ends.

One other point. I would never, ever buy a pair of Helds online. Their sizing can vary and you want to try them on in a store. Even two pairs of identically sized Helds will fit differently.

even at the store, ask to wear 2 different pairs of the same size held's...

also find out if the distributor of held is easy to work with as for warranty...

can be important if the shop doesn't have the same size/model in stock to replace on the spot and have to ship it back which may take months for a response...

Now I have read many of the cons/pro of having a softer impact area to spread the damage compared to a hard shell but it has left my on the edge of both. HALP!

I've wondered about the same thing. When I was ready to replace my Held Steve gloves, it was between the Held Phantoms and Helimots. After trying on both I decided on the Helimots. I really liked the way they felt. After about 500 miles I sent them back to Helmut to have a couple of fingers shortened, which gave them a semi-custom fit. I've worn the Buffalo Pro gloves for a little over a year and 20k worth of riding.

I recently had a little get-off at around 30mph. The gloves did their job with only minor scuffing on the left palm and the knuckle of the right index finger. The only injury I sustained to my hands was a bruise to that knuckle when my right hand hit some part of the bike. I think I would have broken my hand had I not had that protection. It made me wonder what absorbs impact better, soft foam or a hard shell like what the Phantoms have. There are so many variables that it's hard to say.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. For me, the feel, comfort and protection where are most important. Some people don't like the Helimots for aesthetic reasons because they look bulky and don't have all the bells and whistles that can be found on other gloves. The only time I don't wear them is when it's below 50 degrees or raining. I ride a naked bike with no heated grips. I have some Tour Master Winter Elite gloves for cold weather riding.

Thanks for all the input guys. I have been searching a bit more and these KNox Handroid gloves caught my eye as well. Has anyone ever wore/tried it in real life? I need to find a local store that carries them as they seem to have great protection.,
