when i bought my suomy spec1r, i didnt realize that the vents would constantly be open.. and on top of that, there was no chin curtain for it either (thus realizing suomy lids are made for summer riding). normally i ride with a fask mask, and earplugs, so the wind noise doesnt bother me whatsoever.

but because there isn't a chin curtain, i can feel the wind blasts when riding blasting at my face. this tends to annoy me in the morning when the temps are cold.

i was looking at a few of arai helmets.. but i wanted to know if these chin curtains effectively work in blocking out the wind. thanks.

The Shoei one works well. I don't think it comes with the helmet though.

my shoei came with a chin curtain and a breath deflector.

Thanks for clarifying. I know they are sold separately - I've jury rigged them into non-Shoei helmets before.

They make the helmet a little quieter too. Great for helmet communication systems, but I found I actually needed to get rid of it to breath better on track.

Ditto. My RF-1000 came with both.

I use the breath deflector, but I could never tell the difference with the chin skirt in, so it usually sits on the shelf.

M'boy's Arai came with a little built-in chin skirt you can adjust on the fly.

In situations like yours, I've been using a bandana worn like a mask.

Comfy, cheap, breath deflector, and chin curtain all built in one. :thumbup

Works great for me.

i usually wear a balaclava when riding, and it helps as a breath deflector... but thats about it.

the Arai chin flap thingy helps when your head is in freestream wind... but the second u get close to the buffeting from the windscreen, it does nothing. i kno the QII, Astral, and RX7 all come w/ the flap. unsure on the Profile since its Arai's low-end helmet.

due to popular demand, it seems like the rf1k might be the best bet for me. after doing some shopping, i came across Shark helmets. i've read some reviews here and there, but can others chime in on this particular brand? (RSR/RSX models)
