Help!!! My Son Was Selected For Motogp Rookie Cup Runoff In Spain!!!

I didn't introduce myself but I saw Matt and your family. (Yeah...they seem very real.) I was hanging out at the NetMoto tent. Good luck.

Matt Myers - MotoGP Rookies Cup update

Hey guys,

Sorry for the absence....we've been on the go trying to get everything together.

Here's the latest...

Matt rode all day yesterday at Stockton Motorplex, thanks to Elena Myers' dad (no relation, and also named Matt Myers!). He hooked us up with a bike (courtesy of macdaddyracing.net) and provided priceless instruction (and his own leathers!) to Matt. He had him looking pretty good by the end of the day. Hope he didn't wear out the knee sliders too bad Matt ;)

We just left Helimot (BIG thanks to Budman!) where Helmut was kind enough to hook Matt up with some loaner leathers, as well as gloves and a back protector.

JRace also hooked us up with leathers that Matt will be sporting both before and after his Rookie Cup debut. Thanks Jim!

Tim at Pashnit.com has been kind enough to give us track time Thursday at T-Hill...still tryin' to line up a bike for him. It looks like the 250 Ninja we were going to use won't quite be ready.

Again, you guys have no idea how much we appreciate all of your support and donations....we're gettin' closer and closer!

Thanks,

Bill Myers

Fundraising

Bill and Matt are on the road and I just got a phone update from them. Bill's last BARF post was made on the side of the road in downtown San Jose after he found an unsecured wireless network! :laughing

They're estimating the travel cost to be around $7000 and they're trying to raise as much money as possible to offset some of the travel expenses. Right now they're at $1500, so with a week left, they're really in the hole! Any amount of donation will help them and you'd be amazed at how quickly a bunch of $20, $30, $50, etc. donations add up. Come on folks, talk to your co-workers, bosses, companies, whoever, to see if they can spare something to help Matt fulfill this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Right on Bill!

Helmut rocks!! So kind of them... as usual. The love of the people in the industry makes them way more than just a team sponsor by far.. they are friends... and more. I am sure you felt the love :teeth

Come on barfers.. a little $$ will help send the family on an adventure of a life time that will no doubt be a great memory forever!

Sent some cash. I have 2005 GSXR 1000 stock headers and a GSXR 1000 fan that I am willing to sell and will put the proceeds towards Matt's trip, if anyone is interested.

PM me.

Good idea Mount'n Goat.... anyone else have stuff to sell and donate to Matt's fund?

If I wasnt so broke I'd pitch in. Recent college grad= poor.

Best of luck to you guys!!! Don't worry about results too much when you get to Spain, worry about showing off Matt's adaptability and comfort levels in a foreign culture. Like someone mentioned, they're looking for the talent, skill, and most of all, someone moldable. Pedrosa wasn't the fastest when he started out, but he turned out just fine.

Hey Guys,

Just a quick update...

Met a bunch of you guys out at Infineon yesterday. Matt (and his mom & I) was overwhelmed by the generosity of the people on this board and at the track.

BIG thanks to Budman and his crew not only for the generous BARF/NetMoto donation but also for introducing us around to several other people.

You and your wife are great parents! And it's so awesome that both of you ride too! Matt is a lucky boy.

Hey, you had a great idea to have his picture with his signature! One day it will be worth A LOT!!! :teeth

Good luck, guys, keep us updated about your progress.

Great to hear you found your way out to Stockton and Matt is giving you a little help out there. This is shaping up to be a great story :)

Here is a pic of Matt and leathers.

Helimot rocks... so kind to help him out.. and man is he styling!:thumbup

Matt at Stockton Monday

Hey guys, here's a shot of Matt at Stockton on Monday (hope this works...first pic I've tried to post!). Thanks Budman for posting that pic of Matt at Helimot yesterday. Patti took a few pictures but I still need to download them.

Jim.....good eye! Full sponsorship from RRW....just kidding. These are a set that Helmut had there that happened to fit Matt, so he's been kind enough to let him borrow them for Spain. He's putting his name on the back even!

Jakemate is hooking Matt up with a RS125 for T-Hill tomorrow andit looks like we'll have a Ninja 250 as well thanks to Larrysdman. You guys are awesome!

Liam, thanks for the words of motivation. You gonna come check us out in Valencia?

Thanks to everyone for their incredible generosity!

Donation sent for a worthy cause. I heard about this from Dito @ T-hill on Monday and it reminded me of my son. I have a 15 year old son who just toured japan (little baseball star in the making) thanks to the help of a lot of folks.

Happy to pass on the same kinda help we got to help a kid (and his enthusiastic parents) realize a dream.

Good Luck and best wishes,
-Eddie
