This kitty currently is sitting on "death row" a my local vet. While picking up some food for our kitty at the vet, my ex GF saw this cat that the owner had brought in to be put down.Apparently the owner is sick and can't care for the cat anymore. The kitty's name is Garfield and is a 3yr old female.Apparently there is nothing even wrong with her except for maybe some partial blindness in one eye.I don't know all the details but this seems totally WRONG.She would have been put down yesterday were it not for my ex GF throwing a fit.She talked the owner into leaving her at the vet for another night.I would take her but I currently have a big tomcat who doesn't play well with others and my 14yr old Catahoula(dog).I would take her to my shop, but there are some bad-ass feral cats that I take care of there and I don't think she could hang. Can someone take her or recommend a course of action? They want to kill this cat today.

Awww, she looks like a love bug!

I'd help, but we already have three, and a fourth would border on my wife being called a crazy cat lady. :loco

I have cat toys for any BARFer that adopts her.

What T said...

Grab her, now.

Can try your shop for the day, if it doesn't work out, get her over to a no-kill shelter.

Shame when people be throwing away a perfectly good ginger tabby like that :(

Here's an update. The ex was able to covince the owner to hold on to Garfield for another week while we look for a home. She met the owner at the vet and snapped another picture. This cat seems very mellow, notice she doesn't even travel in a carrier. She looks like a BIG girl.As far as I know, this owner also has a dog or dogs (don't know their status) and Garfield seemed comfortable around the other animals at the vets. The ex said she may have fleas and her coat seemed a little oily, the kitty that is.:)
If anyone is interested, please PM me and I'll give you my ex's phone number (yes, she's hawt:laughing) and she can tell you more. She is in contact with the owner.I hope we can find this girl a home....
EDIT: I will gladly donate Frontline or Advantage treatment to kill any fleas.

:thumbup Sounds like a great cat. Wish mine was social enough to bring in another. You'll likely find a place in a week. If not, I'll take her til she finds a home.

Also, I have a friend that works in a vet hospital that works with Whiskers, Tails and Ferels which is an organization that saves pets about to be put down and puts them up for adoption. I can get that info to you to pass on if you'd like.

:thumbupThanks! Hopefully something will happen within a week.I'll let you know if we need an emergency foster or that info.

If only my wife's cat played well with others, but we've tried.

Looks like a sweet cat. Good luck.

I can foster her for a while, provided my cat approves. But he likes everyone. Not sure I can commit to a perm home but can keep her for a while.

If nothing else, call these guys up. They always have people at the local pet stores and we adopted our last cat from them.

I used to do trap and neuter for ferals with those guys and volunteer a few hrs a week until they left me stuck with 5 kittens. I managed to find homes for most of them on my own. :|

ill take her. my only concern is that shes not a "scratcher" type cat. i got a 3 yr old lil girl, shes great n gentle with animals, i jus dont want her gettin scratched up ya know.

few questions, sorry if theyve already been answered...

- how blind is she in the one eye n why? on-going health problem?
- is she spayed?
- can she go outside? or is she strictly an inside cat?

if no one else gets her in time, pm me, ill be happy to save her. she can terrorize my fish!!! hahaha.

As somebody who has a one eyed rescue I can assure you that having only one eye is not a handicap by any means. My cat is as lovely as she can be! Pick this one up!

absolutely, im more jus curious if its an ongoing health problem. im the type of person to spend thousands n thousands of dollars to save/help my animals. so if the cat is gonna be a medical case, i just want the heads up first.

Droopy, unfortunately I know very little about the cat other than what my ex has told me.She is going to have lunch or something with the owner and hang out with Garfield sometime this week.Seems like the cat is very mellow and would probably be great with your little girl.I'll post up more info when I get it.
Oh, and Droop, if you take her, you gotta promise , no tattoos.:wow

If housing for the kitty is tight.... I might be able to help. I can't really have more animals than I already own but we do have a spare bedroom w/o furniture. I could house Garfield for several weeks but then we are going to be away on vacation. Anyway, keep us posted. No animal should be put to death for such a stupid reason.
