I am fiddling around with Adobe Illustrator and making a logo/banner for our group. I've got the just of it but I am stuck with applying gradient colors to the lettering and logo. I can apply it horizontally but I want to apply it vertically instead. How do I change the direction?
I have other questions also if anyone has the time.
Thanks

Haven't used illus in ages but you should be able to choose an angle in the grad dlog. Also RTM.

Once you have applied the gradient, use the 'gradient tool' to make the gradient go in the direction you want.

Steps...
- Apply gradient to object/shape
- Select the Gradient Tool from the tools panel
- Click and drag in the direction you want the gradient to be, from top to bottom. The gradient will be applied depending on where and how far you click and drag. Try clicking from the bottom of the object to the top of it.

- convert your text to outline
- select it when you apply gradient and change gradient properties

Draw a curved line with the pen tool, select the type tool and touch it to the line (make sure the type tool changes to a type on path icon) and click. Start typing. Adjust the line as needed with the direct selection tool. :teeth

Cool I'll try that when I get home....Thanks alot for all y'alls input.

Hey thats cool. Another question, if y'all don't mind? Lets say I have a design, it has text on in, the text has more curvature on it that I want, how do I change so it has less curvature?

Use the direct selection tool to modify the amount of curve. So say you have one midpoint in your curve - move your direct selection tool until you get a little hollow square next to your pointer. That tells you that you are over a point. Now click - this will make the line that the text is conforming to appear. You will then see 2 handles coming off of your midpoint. Click and hold on one of the ends of the handles and move the mouse to adjust the curve. Rinse and repeat for the other side.

Now the easiest way to adjust the curve is when you are drawing your line before you put the text on to it.

Another thing is once the text is placed, you will see a line on the left hand side of your text where it starts. If you use the direct selection tool on that, you can slide the text along that line by click, hold and move mouse.

Hope that helps.
