Hit massive pothole, filing a claim against caltrans?

Well speaking of, there's a huge friggin pothole on Park Presidio in SF, southbound. Not sure the exact intersection, around Geary. Long, narrow and deep enough to take out a bike w/o disturbing the cages. Barely avoided, it coulda been ugly since I was 2-up.

Exactly :thumbup And awareness falls into that as well..

Considering that posts of this nature from you have been brought to your attention previously on more than one occasion, I'm surprised to see that you jumped right in with something that might be interpreted as unhelpful and spiteful. And, no, it doesn't matter what other people have posted, Lou. I'm talk about and to you only, homeslice.

And you should be driving/riding at a speed that would enable you to see road hazards and be able to avoid them.

The way our roads are that is about 43 mph.

Honestly I always find dodging stuff at 65 sometimes challenging. Depending on cars locations and such. I don't ride at night any more and that is very limiting.

I think you could be putting yourself at risk from othe factors if you REALLY ride slow enough to anticipate all situations. It is no doubt great advice, but at times it is not very practical.
