House of the Dragon

I was completely confused by the time jump. I spent the first part trying to figure out if Blonde Chick was the same one with the pug nose from earlier episodes. Having settled that it was, I was then confused by who the daddy was of her kids. I thought it was the handsome shorter haired guy who was her personal guard and boyfriend. But it was the other guy who got exiled? When did that happen.

And how come the old King is still alive? He was losing fingers and shit in previous episodes? He’s about the only likable person but I thought he was a goner.
Sigh. I thought I had seen all the episodes, I am beginning to wonder if I missed one. I have to go back to the Max and double check. All of a sudden there are all these bratty kids and new characters.

And what happened to that Corlys guy with all the hair? Did they show him as the older guy with the much shorter hair?

^ this. I can't keep track of who is/was before. Not digging the change.

So then I saw the newest episode last night. At least I was a bit more familiar with the landscape but I am still a bit confused about whose kids are whose.

That video rundown above was incredible. That guy must suck up four 5Hour energy drinks or something. I could swear it was unedited and you can’t even hear him inhale. But it was interesting and kind of helped.

I know I am posting with others who dig this show a lot but it surprises me how deep it can get based on that video.

I remember when Charlie AKA Emergency Awesome had less than 10k subscribers. That's how long I've been following his channel.

Check out Alt-Shift-X videos as well.

So I rewatched Sunday's episode after adjusting my TV settings. It was so much better without the brightness constantly auto-adjusting. :laughing

I do think he got a little bit greedy with the youtube moniez. He even does full on breakdown videos for trailers. I remember when Spider-Man No Way Home came out last year, he had 12-15 minute videos for each and every trailer leading up to it's release. I felt like we don't need that much content for... trailers. That said, the quality of his videos hasn't changed and I can just not which videos I think are unnecessary (which I do, or rather don't).

Some people in this thread are GoT book readers, I never was so it's so helpful to fill in things I never knew. Even for his Marvel and DC stuff which is much more my speed, there's still lots I don't know and he throws in.

you have dynamic contrast or something? turn all that sh*t off. Almost every setting that has an off option should be utilized.

Also watched this episode on a bottom tier LCD and it looked like crap. I hate LCD tvs. Even my mid/higher end LCDs . Waiting on my kids nerf gun to break one of mine so i can finally splurge on an OLED.

Don't remember what it was called. Something similar. But everything was cool after turning it off and just adjusting the brightness to my preference. I'm still just surprised nothing else has made the TV do that before.

I don't know the model number off the top of my head but it's a pretty high end LG my roommate brought with her and sold to me for dirt cheap when she left.

The TV in my room is a low model Vizio. The LG really shines (no pun intended) on clarity for low light scenes.

After rewatching I'm still made Vhagar accepted that little shit Aemond as her new rider. Like... the biggest dragon is going with this loser? Seriously? Is that how this works? First come, first serve?

Also, I totally get the confusion of keeping track of the kids. I'm doing pretty good with keeping it straight about who belongs to which parents but I definitely backed up some scenes once or twice. :laughing Outside of typical sibling/cousin squabbling, the kids didn't seem to have abnormally bad relationships until their moms made it that way.

I've been pretty indifferent about Alicent, or rather flip flopping episode to episode but she's lost me. I'd be cool if a dragon accidentally stepped on her while landing or something like that.

The show should be renamed for season 2 as The Real Housewives of Westeros.

I wish Rhys Ifans would comb his goddam hair. I mean, I’m old too but….but glad to see his thespian self back in the story albeit scheming…. As far as the brat getting the dragon, I kept hoping/expecting the dragon would take a dip in the ocean for a minute.

Had my fingers crossed while he was learning to hang on, "please let go please let go." :laughing

i'm so bad at names. Like i couldn't tell you the name of a single character. Valeerian (sp?) is all i remember. Drives my wife absolutely mad :laughing
Doesn't help that this is me in real life too :teeth

Bring on the hate, but I don't think he's a very good in this role. They are trying to make him a "Tywin Lannister" type, but just doesn't have the presence of Charles Dance.

Saw episodes 1-6, was disappointed with the slow pace and the totally unnecessary and confusing re-casting of two female leads.

But WTF is with the super low lighting - especially after getting panned for it in GOT.

Episode 7 was completely unwatchable. We binned it after 30 minutes of watching a gloopy brown screen. It might as well have been a radio play, but then we would have actually had some worthwhile dialogue. Sorry HBO you totally lost me on this one.

WTF is the point of us all investing in 4K screes and Dolby surround sound - when they serve up content that would work on an am radio.

Pacing of season 1 of Game of Thrones wasn't much better.

Thinking people forgot. It was a decade ago.

Not saying the criticism isn't valid. I've been watching Star Wars: Andor on Disney+ and I'm glad they dropped the first 3 episodes on the first day because they were slow.

Obv. they did a terrible job shooting day for night. However they filtered it did not translate well.

I actually think the pacing is pretty fast for a GOT show. If this was original series, Daemon's 1st wife death wouldn't have happened until the 3rd season.

Been avoiding the thread until I finished the latest episode as I was running behind.

Damn that family is vicious but kind of expected it from the book. I like how the Queens Kingsguard had to be reined in by the boss when she wanted him to take the bastards eye. Seeing as the kid that did it is in direct line for the throne not sure how he got away with pushing them around and breaking his nose.

Really surprised the Sea Lord didn't have a bigger fit that the shit Targy brat smacked his daughters around and took their main dragon. He seemed to take that and really didn't make a stink about it. Not sure if that was due to it being the kings kid or not but thought he would be way more pissed.

I always thought the princess and her husband were supposed to do their duty kind of glad they clarified that they tried but it didn't work as it made me think better of the princess as far as her cheating.

Also glad they didn't kill the husband and he got to go away with his latest fling to Pentos I would assume.

So after reading some posts here about Ep 7 I guess I now know why it looked like they filmed it in a haze of smoke.
