how do YOU clean your gloves?

On the topic of gloves wearing out prematurely, a buddy of mine had a pair of short cuff Alpinestars that wore out in about six months of scootering--massive holes between the index fingers and thumbs, wearing out all over. I gave him a pair of Cortech gloves I stopped using and they're still going strong for him, probably a year or more later.

So am I the only one that needs to clean the insides? If you ride when it's wet the gloves get pretty funky.
Never smelled a funk from my gloves, and I've put them through some solid rains. My hands after riding through three hours of Washington state...

I wear Shift Bullet gloves.

FWIW I throw mine in the washing machine in a mesh bag for delicates and Woolite. Then let them air dry and follow up with some leather conditioner.

No. If I'm going to do a thorough cleaning, I turn thm out and scrub the inside, turn them back, put them on and scrub the outside. Dry. Condition.

Funky glove interiors? Might try storing them with crumpled newspaper inside to absorb any moisture (helps with boots, too).
I have been known to completely soak and agitate gloves in the Murphy's oil soap solution when they've gotten crusty with dried sweat, let them dry overnight, and then condition.

Washington State will give you Dishpan hands for sure :teeth

I get new ones.

Actually you can use Woolite and warm water to clean them.
Let them dry out naturally.

Same with your helmet.

Or you can just get new ones...:)

bump. Good thread.

Just washed my dianese gloves with some lexol 'leather shampoo'. Put them on and then 'washed my hands' with the leather soap. It took a long time to dry, then I conditioned them. Softer than new!

I sweat on my hands like crazy and the gloves had gotten crusty enough that salt was showing on the surface. Now they're back to brand new! I'll probably do the same treatment to my waterproof gloves at the end of the rainy season.

Some of you guys are way too complicated for me. I think it's basically a combination of a) good quality gloves, and b) some reasonable upkeep. My Held Phantoms are 3 years old now, and look like they could easily go another three. I clean them about twice a year with Lexol cleaner, and then condition them with Lexol conditioner. I think cheap gloves will break down, no matter what you do, and good quality gloves will take a ton of abuse with minimal care.

Warm water and microfiber cloth to clean, and I clean mine when I clean my other gear. Leather conditioner once a year for all my kit.
