How do you store your motorcycle gear? (Apparel)

I have a 40 year old pair of Bates touring gloves that say you are wrong. As long as your helmet and gloves are dry, it's fine.
I suppose if you let the gloves and helmet dry out all the way before you do so, it'd work.

I'm amazed that your gloves last that long. I have trouble getting gloves to last more than a couple years, even excellent gloves like Helimots.

Those are cold weather gloves and I don't ride in cold weather very much. I get good life out of my normal gloves AGV and Alpinestars. If you aren't crashing or stressing them, they last a long time. I do keep them very clean and I guess that helps. Back in the day, my gloves lasted 6 months but gloves are better made now.

Shelves, hangars, etc...

dedicated gear area. If the bike is inside key in ignition, gloves in helmet on shelf, aerostich on a padded wooden hanger.
Dirt gear stored in a gear bag in the container with the dirt bikes. Really gets nasty if it doesn't go through the laundry first.

I suppose its possible with other insects also. I used to leave my gear on the bike until one morning ants had taken over.
Bug splat on windshield and helmet is like an all you can eat buffet to the little bastards.

I live on a boat, gear lives in the shop.

I store it randomly in the garage, downstairs closet, upstairs closet, dependent on the season

Gear stored in the garage is at risk of ant invasion.

Ants have NO chance against this special sauce. But I will admit to finding spiders in gloves, helmets, and other places, especially when they are put away properly; If I just hang my gear like on a post (see above) they tend to ignore it. Spiders love garages, like my 90 year old garage, where several 1000 generations have evolved to be specialized for my garage.

Tell me. I have the tiny ones that drop from the garage ceiling like commndos on rappel and then climb into my hair and bite. I've taken to sweeping the air with a long stick to clear a pathway but the little suckers wait until I'm doing something and then drop.

Do they drop onto my wife? No. Do they drop into the pool and drown? No. They wait just for me, let's give that guy a franken-neck.

Your kids may be at least 50% spider-resistant.

I get the daddy-long-legs, that like to spin cobwebs around the garage/basement. It's like a Halloween party sometimes. I have to regularly do spider patrol with a shop-vac to stay ahead of them.

That under porch area is secure enough for your tools, is it secure enough for gear? Get a surplus four drawer file cabinet (locking) and park it out there with some DampRid bags (when it's moist) and you can hold: 2-3 helmets, multiple pairs of riding pants, and two or more jackets. Gloves rest in the gaps.

Since I went digital for all files in my classroom the four drawer has been a god send. Now nobody knows I ride unless I want them to. And it's lockable and climate controlled, albeit in a primitive way.

I use the following three items mounted securely to the wall. I mean securely. One way is to mount a 2x6 across the wall, then mount the pipe floor mount to that. You can go with a longer pipe if you want, it's rock solid.

I thought I was the only one that did it this way. I'll usually leave one helmet and one set of gloves on the bike, helmet on mirror and gloves near where the key goes. Often a jacket is laid across there too. Other helmets and gloves go on whatever shelves have room for them. Other jackets laid on boxes in the garage or occasionally on a hanger in my coat closet. I used to keep all of my boots on a shelf, but they've sort of migrated to the floor near the air pump. :)

I would like to find some kind of rack to hang things up like redtail does it, but I don't want to permanently attach anything to the wall. One of these days...
