there is a guy who offered me this bike, its a 06 gsxr 750 with 7k miles, i tough about rebuilding another bike maybe a track bike, also i have heard of ppl getting cracked frames rewelded do think is possible in this situation?

That is alot more then a cracked frame. I'm sure it could be welded, but I would trust it about as far as I could throw it.

If, it's free, take it. Or DIRT cheap.

But that is some serious damage that would cost more then it would be worth to have done right IMO. I say scrap it and make a go-kart.
 
well it is not free, hey ill take any bike for free even burnt, the whole bike is in running condition engine electrical swingarm subframe, just the frame and plastics, i dunno i tough i'd ask, i have never dealt with split frames

Wow -- that frame is not -- I repeate NOT repairable and still have it work/ride and feel right so don't even think about trying to have it re welded up. The engine on the other hand would be worth getting as it doesn't look to bad.
 
If it was me, and I got the frame fixed somehow, I'd never be able to swing a leg over it w/o thinking about the "fixed" frame.

If you have the time, it could be parted out and you could try and make some money.

But IMO it isn't worth it.

Too much time and hassle.

I guess you could buy a new frame and try swapping things over but I'm sure there is more wrong than what I can see in the pics.

Fix THAT bike? HELL no. I wouldn't trust that at all.
 
i say get it if you have time to swap in a new frame.

I did exactly that to three different GSXR frames this past race season. The frame is not fixable, you need to replace it.

The good news is that the front end may still be straight. Last time that happened to me the forks and triples were dead on, and the front wheel only had a tiny bend in one of the lips.

The value really depends on the condition of the other big pieces (motor, wheels, front end, subframe, radiator, rearsets, controls, etc). Ballpark figure would be $500 to $1500.
 
Do you think that's a fair price? Look at how much time/effort and money it would cost to repair it. Money wise, if the repair cost gets anywhere near the cost of the bike when it was new, I'd say fuck it. Time/effort is all up to you, but time is money as well. You can spend your time fixing the broken one, or you can spend it earning a little extra money to get a clean bike with a clean title.
 
If you did all the work and bought that frame it would be a $3,000 bike.. Not too shabby.
 
$3k is what i expected, it pisses me off that the guy wont even go down to 1500, tough he is willing to wait for me to come up with me money (up to 2 months) in the mean time i can try to hunt down other parts, this is the only way i could get a newer bike since i cant afford the actual price or a ready to ride bike
 
any idea how the forks are? they could be bent...
if all you had to do was get a new frame and race bodywork...I would pay more than 1500 for that bike...
cause its bound to have many broken little parts and brackets thats going to add up quickly!
 
Unless you are getting it dirt cheap i wouldnt touch it. the new gsxrs dont crash well I flipped my 06 1k frontwards and if It had gone to a dealer it would have cost $7k to rebuild so it would have been a total. it cost me about $2600 doing the work my self to make it like new with all new factory parts. my point is there could be a lot more damage than whats apparent you might be much better off buying a non crashed bike.
 
this is quite an impressive crash.

i cannot identify ANY piece in the pictures that has no damage (either scrape or worse).
even the SHIFT LINKAGE is bent.

oh wait..... there 's one thing. the Radiator Cap looks salvageable.

i'd give you $5.95 for a radiator cap.... but i'd have to charge you $400 to dispose a pile of hazardous waste.

so, you'd owe me $394 to take that off your hands.



On a real note: This "project" is gonna take much more $$$ than you think, and at least 3-4 months.
consider spending your time working at starbucks, and buy yourself a new bike from the money you make. MUCH MORE EFFICIENT.
