How to insert handlebar weight assembly?

Okay, I must be doing something wrong. My bike was missing the bar end and the entire weight insert to which it attaches. No probelm ordering the parts but I'm having trouble with the installation part of it.

Is there some trick for getting this inserted probably? I am aligning the clips to the holes inside the handlebar but it just seems like it doesn't fit no matter what kind of pressure I apply or if I smoosh it or what. It legitimately appears to this amateur's eyes to not properly fit. These are the proper OEM parts for this exact model so I think there is just a learning curve. Any tips? My experience level is basically zero with this kind of stuff. Thanks!

Does the insert fit in the bar without the weight and end bolt attached?
If you haven't already, loosen the end bolt as much as possible before sliding the insert in. You may have to squeeze the insert a bit to get it to fit into the bar too. After that, tighten the end bolt.

Also, double check the insert provided. I received two different sizes depending upon the diameter of the bar or any inserts already inside the bar.

I have tried installing it without the bar end weight attached, couldn't get it to work because of the metal ring, seen in my third pic above. I've tried a few times and a few different methods. I had the bar end attached in the picture because I was about to give up and yank it out and it's easier with that on.

It does seem like i need to squish or squeeze some part to get it to fit, and that's what I'm struggling with.

I ordered OEM parts from two different sellers and the parts that arrived are identical. I have a 2015 Honda CB300F and the parts I ordered for each side are:
  • RING, HANDLE WEIGHT SNAP 53108-KR3-770 x 1
  • RUBBER, HANDLE WEIGHT (B) 53107-MY1-000 x 2
  • WEIGHT B, HANDLEBAR 53104-KYJ-900 x 1
  • WEIGHT, HANDLEBAR 53104-MGZ-J00 x 1
  • SCREW, OVAL (6X50) 90191-KYJ-900 x 1
The part in red text is what's giving me issues with fitting in properly. It clips into these holes inside the handlebar, and I make sure to align it with them, but it doesn't seem to fit. I might be doing this all wrong since I'm working off of specs and I haven't seen someone do what I'm trying to do. I always like to try doing something myself first before asking for help, and this didn't look like it would be so hard, but even this might be outside my skill level:dunno

My spouse suggested maybe there is a specialty tool needed to install it? Could be, or I could just be inept :laughing

Thanks both of you for trying to help. I might call up the local shop and ask them to help little old me with this one before I break something.

Have you tried it without that black piece? I've never seen something like that when installing aftermarket bar end weights. Just a thought.

Without the rubber ring? I've not tried that. The specs show two rubber rings on each side. It looks like they go on the recessed parts of the insert but I'm not sure because the specs show it all disassembled style:

No. Without #11.

Oh! You know, I haven't tried it without the metal ring. I figured it's there for a reason, like it looks like it's designed to keep the bar end mount secure by clicking into these holes. I guess I could try installing without that and see if it stays in place while riding. If so, I may just forego that piece altogether. Thanks for the suggestion

try compressing the clip, it needs to be squeezed
There is a small spring circlip that has nubs which fit into holes on the ends of the bars. You have to compress it top and bottom to work it out the bar end. The manual recommends replacing these whenever they are removed. These gave me fits when changing over to VFR bars.

This is the Partzilla page to show what it looks like. It is part # 11, 53108-MAT-000 Ring, Handlebar Weight Snap.
Removing this was easily the most frustrating thing I have done on the bike so far!

Compressing the ring clips is necessary to remove the assembly but I'm trying to install it, not remove it.

I'll try installing without the clips this evening. I'm only slightly worried the vibration will shake them loose over time without this part but worth a try. :dunno

Well, looking at youtube videos or people removing the bar end weights from CB300 and CB500, they unscrew the bolt (#19) holding on the bar end (#9) . It looks like #10 and #11 are nested and the end of #8 is a flush surface that #9 screws into. But it takes a slide hammer to pull all the stuff inside the handlebar out so I would imagine it might take some significant blows with a mallet/dead blow hammer to get them in there.
