I would like to somehow mount a Pelican 1500 case to the bike - I use the bike for daily commuting to/from work. Would be nice to be able to put my work bah in here or carry a back on my back and have the case on there for extra storage usage for things like small grocery runs etc. I use the bike for just about everything on a daily basis.

Any thoughts on what sort of rails or slides I could use to bracket the pelican case (this one)

Haven't been able to find any sources on how others have done this with a similar setup nor do I have a Pelican case to test with handy.

Can't help with mounting but I have an old pelican case, I believe the 1500 that I bought from a Barger a few years back and never actually used it for anything. I'd dell it for the 50 bucks I paid back then. Lmk if interested

Idioteque - sure, if i can find a way to mount it i'll take it off your hands.

You can do a mod. on what I did for a side mount pair for your top mount. You will need bolt threads on the rack for attachment. You can tap a pair of holes in the rack (likely the 2 center ones) or shoot in a blind nut with a rivet gun, I would tap it with at least a 1/4-20 or larger (not knowing the hole size in the rack). Drill out the bottom of the case at these hole locations and use a big hand knob bolt for easy on/off. These hand knobs will be secure on the inside and damn hard to seal with a lock on the case preventing access to the bolts. This is like what I used but purchased at a local hardware store. http://www.jwwinco.com/products/section8/gn6336.5/index.html

Cheap, easy and fast!

Why drill the rack?

Why not just drill holes in the case to match the slots in the rack, two rear, two front and use stainless button head screws, washers both inside and out and nylock nuts to bolt it down? If you don't think the case is strong enough go to someplace like Online Metals and order a piece of 1/8 aluminum plate to put down on the inside of the case to spread the load. Take maybe an hour to do.

I did this on the back of my DRZ400s. Four stainless M6x1.0 bolts, fender washers and nylock nuts. I keep a water bottle, tube, repair kit, irons, etc in it. I did the LAB2V with it that way and had no issues. If that's not a testament to that method I don't know what is.

Thanks for advice guys. Picked up the various bolts and pieces to give this a shot... now to get the case.

I did the same thing, on the same bike. Worked like a charm.

You can even silicone the holes after the bolts are installed for keeping weather out.
