How to slow down a noob?

Went down at less then 10mph, haven't gotten out of him how yet but he said it was based on not being smooth with the clutch and jerky on the throttle :dunno

Maybe he was trying to pick up the front wheel. :p

Only read a few comments here and brushed thru the OP. Kinda same thing happened to me at work but instead of a kid asking me it was an adult coworker who has only ridden 150's back home in India. I told him, be patient. Buy a bike that's suitable for your riding experience and put some miles under your belt. Before that I said, take the riding course in SFO / Mission Col. and it'll teach you basic maneuvers to stay safe. Buy the bike, insurance, gear...go ride. He's riding... difference between this kid and my coworker, he's an adult that makes good decisions even after someone has advised him. This noob, has a Dad that should be a bit more responsible.

Yamaha never had that in that place in the bikes I bought. :x

Feeding new riders statistics on the dangers of motorcycling is a questionable practice. They would feed new pilots in times of war statistics indicating they had incredibly short lifespans in the air against enemy planes, but the young pilots just kept going up with starry eyes filled with glory.

Sometimes it feels like the truth of it is that no one really chooses motorcycling; motorcycling ultimately chooses you, and the horror stories and expressions of risk are actually the things that attract all of us to riding on some level. The new riders are just that much less experienced in hiding the attraction.

Show him "meat" from crashes....unfortunately based on my experience, personal and people I know...until a newb crushes nothing will slow them down.

Damned stupid location for the oil sight glass, then. Should be further to the left of the brake pedal.
